Which crossover would you have preferred to see, Archie on the Jeffersons or Maude? - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

It's a tough choice, but i would have to say the Jeffersons because i would have been interesting in seeing Archie's reaction to Bentley and Florence.

Archie no doubt would have thought Bentley was gay (remember him calling England a *** country). And we can only imagine the possible fireworks with Florence! Does anyone know why a crossover was never done-certainly the writers could have come up with a situation where Archie would have to visit the Jeffersons, especially when Edith was still alive. Was Carroll not interested in doing a crossover?

That's tough. The tention and resulting comedy between Archie and Maude was great, but I'd have to say The Jeffersons. I would've loved to see Archie's facial expression when he met Tom and Helen!

Wow, that is a hard choice. I'd have to say The Jeffersons, though. as someone else mentioned, his reactions with Florence would have been priceless.

And the fact that the Jeffersons returned to All in the Family, i see no reason why Archie and Edith couldn't visit the Jeffersons

Actually Archie did meet Tom and Helen on the AITF episode "Lionel's Engagement" but Tom was originally named "Lewis" Willis and was played by a different actor. Archie befriended "Lewis" as the only other white guy there and was shocked to find he was Jenny's father.

Yes, you're right, my mistake. I forgot all about that episode. That was a hilarious episode, though, now that I think about it.

My censored word is a three letter word for gay that begins with an "f". I find it amusing that it was censored on this board but it was OK for Archie to say it on TV (albeit, it is a deragatory term, but then again, that's why Archie used it). Maybe we are in more conservative times now.
