Default John Boy Using a Cane???

I noticed in some of the fifth season episodes they are showing on Hallmark, John Boy is hobbling around and using a cane. Did Richard Thomas have an injury in real life???

Richard Thomas was in the middle of filming the movie 9/30/55 when he got hurt riding a motorcycle. He is seen using the cane in two or three episodes at the beginning of the fifth season.

Poor guy
I realize that this is an old post. I never yet have seen the episodes for season 5 yet. I wish I had the Hallmark channel. I used to have it, not anymore

I didn't realise that the epiosde 'The Fire Storm' was during the 5th season, I thought it was during the 3rd season. I have a few of the epiosdes on tape when it was on TVland awhile ago. I did too notice him limping a little in that episode as well. But I never saw him using a cane.
