Default Final Appeals

Which ones do you remember? I can't remember them all and they are my favorite...three i do are:

1. The mentally handicapped boy accused of killing his neighbor and setting her house on fire.
2. The woman whos child died and was convicted and then it was determined that he had a fatal illness.
3. The man who had sex with a woman and then dropped her off at her house and she was killed that night. He was convicted and then it came to light her husbands brother killed her.

Any others?

Hi, ddelta. The first case you mentioned was of Johnny Lee Wilson, 20 at the time, who was accused of killing 79-year-old Pauline Martz. This took place in Aurora, Missouri. I know this case pretty well because Aurora is fairly close to my grandparents' house and some people down there still talk about it from time to time.

I like this case too because, not only is it interesting, but I recognize several of the landmarks UM showed. One of the women in that segment said Wilson went down to Ramey's the day of the murder. That's the big supermarket chain in southwestern Missouri.

The next time I visit my grandparents I'll have to ask whether they caught the real killer.

I was very happy when he was exonerated, and by the governor of Missouri!

Also remember theese:

1)The Michael Scott Martin acused of robbing a gas staion, sentenced 20 years to life.

2)John Purvis the Schizophrenic man accused of stabbing and killing his neighbor Susan later it was found the husband hired 2 men to kill her.

3)Michael Loyd Self the Gas station attendent accused of killing 2 girls in Webster Texas, possibly framed by the police.

I am sure there are others I am leaving out, but these I remember.

Double !!!

Was that the case where the head of one of the murdered girls was found floating in a lake or river by two boys canoeing? I just remembered that case a week or so ago but for the life of me, couldn't remember any names. Was he released? I hope so. I remember he was arrested simply for correctly identifying photos of the two murdered girls at the police station.

No. Michael Martin was white (ditto Michael Self).

And yes, you are correct about what you asked of the Michael Self case. It was, in fact, the case where two boys found the skull of one of the murdered girls while canoe riding. Unfortunately, I don't have an answer as to whether or not he has been released. I've been searching through google without success (so far).

Default I think the Tommy Zeigler case was a Final Appeal

He is the central Florida furniture store owner who was convicted of four murders (and currently on Death Row) despite being shot in the stomach himself, Christmas Eve 1975. That's one of the Unsolved Mysteries cases I was familiar with long before UM aired it. I believe Zeigler is innocent.
