Default Season 12, without Ted

Say Ted Danson did leave Cheers, but they decided to carry on with the show.... what would you have happen??

I would have both Sam and Rebecca leave the bar, with Sam going back to the minors and Rebecca finding true love with Don.
Then Woody would take over the bar, and hire Kelly as a waitress. Throughout the season, Woody would look for an assistant bartendar, but wouldn't find one until the premiere of the 13th season.
Kelly and Paul would become perminent cast members, and Lilith would return.
Diane would NOT return in the Season 11 finale, and "Rebecca Gaines, Rebecca Loses" would serve as the finale.

Ah, very interesting....but why not just give Lilith her own show, huh? She deserves one, I think!

Lilith should take over the world! Bwahahahahahaha!!!!

if ted left and woody was the main character - the show would be more like a spinoff.

yes, the barflies were essential to cheers, but i don't think they would be able to carry the show on their own. all of them (the "stars" and the rest of the ensemble cast) were great TOGETHER. but you really did need somebody like Sam to keep cohesion. even though sam isn't my favorite character, he added a whole lot to the show. i wouldn't have carried it on without him.

It couldn't of lasted. It just wasn't there without Ted.I don't think the show would have worked if any of the cast wasn't there.

Im completely happy with how the finale turned out, I dont think Sam and Diane should have gotten together.
For if they had -- the series would be dead, and any sort of reunion would be pointless.

Yes, you have a point. I've been trying to block that logic from my brain, though.

Agreed in full. I'm so happy they didn't get together!

Alright, new idea for "Season 12"....

The first two parts of the finale still happened. But in "Part 3", both Sam and Diane agree to get off the plane.... only to end up back in Cheers where they give their last goodbyes as they move off to California.

Woody and Rebecca would then take over the bar as co-managers/owners, and hire Kelly as a waitress.
Kelly and Paul would become perminent cast members.
And the series would go on for a few years until the ultimate finale, in which Sam and Diane get married.

Actually I'm glad Cheers ended they way it did when it did. I've talked to some people about it and they said Cheers was long enough as it is, if it went on anylong it would have almost been too long. The series was perfect to me.

Plus, I don't think Sam and Diane would ever manage to get married. Or if they did, it wouldn't last.
