Trio revives violent, musical `Cop Rock' By Steve Johnson Tribune television critic One of the most notorious television series involved cops who made violent arrests on the gritty urban streets -- and then broke into song. Steven Bochco's "Cop Rock" has gained a lasting renown as a punch line and a representation of just how weird television can get. It certainly was innovative, this melding of brutal crime drama and musical. But it also proved entirely too disconcerting for comfort. It may not have merited a longer run than the four months it got in 1990, but it is definitely worth seeing, as a historical artifact. And thanks to the innovative cable channel Trio, viewers have that chance. Every night in June, the channel is showing some of the famous flops from TV, as well as dipping into movies a bit. Beginning with the pilot Tuesday (7 p.m.), "Cop Rock" episodes will air all week, so viewers can relive such moments as street toughs singing angrily at cops, "In these streets/We got the power" and a cop force-feeding water to a suspect in the interrogation room. For more on what Trio is offering in its month-of-June Flops series, check the Web site of the channel, generally available only on digital cable tiers. |

I think the real question is, why don't I get Trio? It really isn't fair. They show all these obscure shows and I can't see them.
Does anybody here get Trio? I've never met anyone who does and I wonder how the network can stay afloat with, what, only three million potential viewers? |

Trio is a pretty good network.
Last year they aired a bunch of great unaired pilots as part of this month long series, and every once in a while they do some interesting specials about TV programs and such. I kind of wish TV Land would do some more programs like that. |

Trio is now showing an episode of "Pink Lady And Jeff," so I take back everything I just said.
