Default Which era of the Diane episodes do you prefer?

Diane and Coach (Era 1)

or

Diane and Woody (Era 2)

I've always enjoyed it when Diane and Coach were in the episodes.

I can't choose. They're both great. I have favorite episodes in every Diane season! But, although Diane and Coach had sweeter moments, Diane and Woody had funnier moments. At least that's what I think.

Exactly.
Seasons 1-3 was the series at its smartest, but Seasons 4-5 was the series at its funniest.
I love every year, but I prefer Diane and Woody, although I like the Coach character better.

I've heard rumors that Nick was the only actor on the show that Shelley could get along with, and I think that shows. Diane and Coach seemed to have a great bond...I liked that pair better.

but shelley also got along with Woody. the more i read, the more i realize that a lot of those rumors are exaggerated. i think the only person with whom she ended up not getting along at all, ever, was rhea...at least they could use that in their acting lol.

True, true.

I dunno...I read a lot of crap that is probably exaggerated, but I just see it everywhere...it's hard to ignore.

Me, neither. But, whatever...she was awesome in Cheers, and that's all I care about.

I preferred the Diane years during seasons 1 through 3. The writing and dialogue was sharp and very intelligent. It was unique that made the show stand out the way it did. It was in many ways it was in the style of Barney Miller. Plus the bond between Coach and Diane was very special in the vein of father/daughter.

Seasons 4 and 5 the whole Sam and Diane drama was wearing thin and it was looking tired especially in season 5. The sharp dialogue was gone and it turned into one sex joke and/or comment after another. In those seasons Sam's whoreness was coming out more and he became more of an arrogant wannabe macho man.
