Default Prince fans R gonna B excited 2 learn about this

News I've been waiting for since I've had my dvd player, finally confirmed by USA Today:

Prince is about to get his due on DVD. In addition to a 20th-anniversary two-disc special edition of Purple Rain, Warner Home Video on Aug. 24 is releasing Graffiti Bridge and Under the Cherry Moon on DVD for the first time.

The new version of Purple Rain ($26.99) has a widescreen digital transfer of the film and remixed Dolby Digital surround sound. New extras include featurettes on the Oscar-winning music and eight music videos.

"We wanted to bring (the treatment of the film on DVD) up to today's standards," says Warner's Mike Radiloff.

Prince's directorial debut, Under the Cherry Moon (1986), which co-starred Kristin Scott Thomas, and the sequel to Purple Rain, Graffiti Bridge, will be one-disc releases ($19.97). Each will have widescreen video and Dolby Digital surround sound.

Being the Prince fanatic I am, of course I'll be getting all three. I'm looking forward to the bonus stuff on the Purple Rain disc, as well as the movie Under The Cherry Moon. It may not be a critics favorite but I always felt it had its charm.

I'm not sure what they could be, unless they count the Time and Appolonia 6 performances in the movie as separate videos. There was a live, 20 minute concert performance of I Would Die 4 U/Baby I'm A Star I remember from Friday Night Videos, not sure if they'd include that.

Here are the videos offically released from Purple Rain.

"When Doves Cry"
"Let's Go Crazy"
"I Would Die 4 U/Baby I'm a Star" (live)
"Take Me With U" (live)

It would be great if the DVD would show Prince's 8/83 1st Avenue concert, when he debuted a number of songs from Purple Rain, three of those songs live prefromances from that show, were used on the album. I have the concert on tape, it would be great to have it on DVD, and with top quality picture.

It's about time Purple Rain was given the proper treatment - great news about Under the Cherry Moon and Graffiti Bridge, as well.

I'll be in line to get 'em.

I wonder if "Under the Cherry Moon" and "Graffiti Bridge" DVDs will have the theater trailers. I remember Graffiti Bridge trailer was awsome. Also would like to see "Thieves in the Temple" music video as a Graffiti Bridge DVD extra.

I guess I could have thought of that myself, but I can't take credit for the subject line, I actually lifted that from the site where I got the news on the releases.

well, the TITT video (as well as Round And Round by Tevin Campbell) was exactly the same as it was presented in the movie.

I don't think the "Theves in the Temple" video was taken directly from the movies. I don't remember the movie that well. But in the "TITT" video Prince is wearing a mask throughout the video dancing.

You must be thinking of some other video. Prince doesn't wear a mask at all in the Thieves In The Temple video. For that song, there's a short video for the single, and there's also an 8 minute video for the extended version. There are parts of the video that do appear in the Graffiti Bridge movie, but once again, Prince doesn't wear a mask.

I never knew The Question Of U had a single. Is there any real point of putting the R&R and Thieves videos as bonuses on the GB DVD when the videos were extracted from the film itself?
