I'm glad that Family Ties and Cheers made the list, but I don't think some of the shows listed can really be called classics yet.

I disagree.
A classic is a classic at any age.
Unless of course, a show doesnt reach "classic" status until syndication, ala The Brady Bunch

Well most of those shows are classics, but calling Friends and Home Improvement classics just rubs me the wrong way. And I like Home Improvement by the way, but wouldn't call it a classic yet. I'm sure it will be though (it is a classic in training)

My theory:

a) They haven't even seen it, yet hear it's set in a WWII prison camp, assume concentration camp, and find it appauling.

b) They just can't (or refuse to) see the satire in it.

c) They take it to be a drama.

Great list and its about time Hogan's Heroes got some respect. Same goes for The Beverly Hillbillies.

Yep, I would say those three are right. You also have the people who just want to pretend WWII didn't happen and don't want to discuss it or be reminded of it. BUT the show is full of funny satire if you are patient enough to look at the show. I think it is funny and a good show. People just want to take it way too seriously and you can't do that.

WKKP is better than most of the shows listed.

Or they just judge it without having watched one episode, but they like to call themselves "television authorities"
