Lightbulb The REAL Best Contestant on any season of AI

Simon Cowell says it's Fantasia Barrino...agree or disagree? If you agree, why do you think so, and if you disagree, who do you think is and why?

I disagree, and I say it's Kelly Clarkson. Though I'm not a big fan, that girl was amazing on American Idol. She had great control of her voice and she just hit these big notes you'd never think she could hit if you saw her for the first time. Like in "Natural Woman"...when she belts out "alive" I remember when I first saw that, I just couldn't believe she could go that high! I love listening to her old AI songs.

Kelly was amazing and could sing circles around Fantasia I think. I would rank Clay at number one though. Kelly at two and Diana at three.

I'd go with Kelly Clarkson for AI's best contestant. She has an AMAZING voice , she really does belt out all those high notes , I definitely agree! I was just listening to her album before and every single song I just love!
I don't know why Simon said Fantasia was the BEST contestant out of all 3 seasons , maybe he wasn't thinking of Clay and Kelly and everyone else.

Kelly's the best, Clay a close second. Fantasia would come in around...5th. LaToya beats her, except not personality wise.

Fantasia was a great contestant, but i think the BEST contestant is Kelly Clarkson. The thing with Kelly is that she makes every single song sound GREAT. she can sing barney to me and i would love it. Back watching season 1, i remember not worrying about her having a bad performance or hitting a bad note, because she would do everything 101%. On Top 4 night, she was sick, but she still took a BIG risk and sang "I Surrender" and sang the HECCCCCCCK out of it. That goes down as one of my favorite performances ever on AI. The songs Kelly sang on AI are official Kelly songs. She was just magnificent.

I agree with Simon. Although I will never be as big of a Fantasia fan as I am a Clay fan, I think Fantasia really craps on everybody else AI has ever seen. Kelly's okay, but I think she's the worst of the bunch (other than Ruben).

I just don't remember a time where Fantasia ever hit a wrong note. She puts her heart and soul into everything she sings, and I love it.

I think Fantasia is a wonderful performer, she makes me think of Janis Joplin, mixed with Mary J. Blige whenever I hear her...I hated her 1st song yesterday, but it would have been bad for anyone, and she only picked the song b/c K-Ci and JoJo are her cousins. But I dont just love Fantasia because of her voice, I'm just moved by her whole STORY...just seeing a single teen mother, who is, well, poor, make it this far is just really touching to me. I saw her on ET and she was talking about how she couldnt buy her daughter a barbie that she wanted because she couldnt afford it. I just think she's a really sweet genuine person, I saw her on another show, and she's just really sweet and I dont think she has an attitude at all. She translates all her life-experiences into really soulful music that touches people. I mean, I've never cried about someone I loved winning American Idol except for when Fantasia won. I just think it's great to see someone come that far in their life...

Yeah, I feel the same way. Diana just seemed fake to me, but Fantasia was, without a doubt, the real deal.

BTW: I didn't know K-Ci and JoJo are her cousins!

Clay. He has proved you dont need a title to be far more successful. He has surpassed everyone else on that show sales wise and fans wise, and he sung every song without effort. He doesnt need the show anymore to help him out- he can do it all on his own. When I think of American Idol I think of Clay, but when I think of Clay I dont think of American Idol runner-up. He's just Clay.

Yup, they are...I think her family had something to do with wanting her to pick that song...

But yea, I think Diana is really sweet too, but the whole Snellville Georgia, small-town giddy goodgirl thing kind of got old....Fantasia is just more real. She doesnt try to censor herself or her comments in order to come off as safe and innocent or anything.

Yeah, I agree. I mean, I thought Diana was really good, too (during Week 1, I had her pinned as the winner), but her personality just got to me. I didn't like Fantasia at first, but that special where Ryan interviewed the Top 3 turned me into a fan.
