These two 80's icons are both on the road this summer, both on tours heavy on their respective hits. If you were given a chance to attend, a choice to see only one: Prince or Madonna, who would you pick and why?
Please no threadcraps, if you feel the need to express how much you dislike Madonna (or Prince), start your own thread. I'm just interested in knowing which show you'd rather see. |

good idea for a thread. I'd love to see both, both of them are icons. But I do think Prince would be a little more fun.
Right now Prince and Madonna are both under the spell of unpopular religions (Prince as a JW and Madonna as a Kaballahist), but I think Prince is far less annoying with it, whereas right now, everything is Kaballah this/Kaballah that with Madonna. I think I'd rather see Prince because his tickets top out at less than $100, while Madonna's nosebleeds are more than that. Both are icons and I'd love to see both, but I think Prince's tour would definately be a more energetic performance. Since Prince is a musician and the set will change every night, as opposed to Madonna who will be phoning in every show with the same songs in order. It is great that both of them realize 2004 is a great "nostalgia" year for both (20 years since Purple Rain and Like A Virgin), so both of them are using this tour as the right time to dig out a lot of the 'golden oldies' that they've snubbed in recent tours. I mean, who would've guessed that after bashing the entire decade of the 1980's for several years, Madonna would wind up bringing back all the songs that made us love her in the first place? The only thing I find funny is that religious convictions are keeping Prince from performing his dirty songs, and it was the raunch of songs like Little Red Corvette and Erotic City that really made him a superstar. |
