I can't believe what I have just read over at the Sitcoms Discussion Board today.Click here. I'm completely disgusted and shocked.
This poster over on the Sitcoms Discussion board (mostly a fan of pre-touchtone phone sitcoms, mind you) has made a point of saying Lucy Ricardo is the longest sitcom character in television. As fans of Lucille Ball, you all know that is just a bunch of bull because your dearly beloved Lucy didn't play the "Lucy" character for nearly 22 years. With that said, the "Dr. Frasier Crane" character is clearly the longest sitcom character so far. Another thing that bugs me is ... it hasn't been said much at all that Lucille Ball played the same character on each one of her shows, but yet this guy gives her the credit of having the title of "the longest sitcom character". It really pisses me off. Some people can just be hypocrites and down right close-minded. I don't know what the world has been coming to these days. I Love Lucy fans, I'm sorry if I sound a bit too harsh, but I'm tired of this same person who hates post-'80s sitcoms not give the credit that our beloved Kelsey Grammer deserves. Wouldn't you be a bit mad too? |

Prior to Frasier the longest character in a show was Matt Dillion of Gunsmoke. 20 years. I suppose in time Homer Simpson will be a longtime character too. He has been on 15- 16 years.
