Default John Fogerty to tour, release new studio album

Here's a note Forgerty posted on his site:

April 29, 2004

Hi Everyone

For those of you who have been checking the site, you may have noticed it has been quiet. We are in the process of rebuilding the site.

I have been in the studio putting the finishing touches on my new record, scheduled to be out in mid to late September. We will put the release date up as soon as we know it.

In the next few days we will be posting all of the current concert information, including purchasing tickets for the shows.

I am very excited to be touring this summer and fall. Looking forward to seeing all of you. Thank you for your patience and continued support.

All the best,
John Fogerty

Fogerty Readies Album, Tour

September release eyed for new set

By Andrew Dansby
Rolling Stone

No one will accuse John Fogerty of being anything resembling prolific as a solo artist. With Creedence Clearwater Revival, he once offered up three classic albums (Bayou Country, Green River and Willy and the Poor Boys) in a single year. But Fogerty's last release, the Grammy-winning Blue Moon Swamp, was his third solo set over the span of twelve years . . . and that was seven years ago. But Fogerty is putting the finishing touches on solo album Number Four (Number Six if you count the 1973 nom de bluegrass self-titled set The Blue Ridge Rangers and 1976's unreleased Hoodoo, which was rejected by his label) in hopes of releasing it in September.

Fogerty will get the chance to showcase some of the new material on a summer tour that begins June 25th in Saratoga, California. The thirty-two-date trek runs into August.

The tour will be Fogerty's first major outing since he supported Blue Moon Swamp, the Mississippi Delta-inspired comeback record that, when released in 1997, was his first new set of songs in a decade. The record had a charting country single with "Southern Streamline" and took home a Best Rock Album Grammy. The subsequent tour also spawned a 1998 live album, Premonition.

The first murmurs about a new album began two years ago when Fogerty announced a new deal with DreamWorks Records, at the time headed by Mo Ostin and Lenny Waronker, who had helped Fogerty get his multi-platinum 1985 album Centerfield made. In 2002, Fogerty recalled that Waronker urged him to, "go make your dream record."

Fogerty has been dogged by label woes for much of his thirty-plus years in the business, and last fall, DreamWorks was shuttered and absorbed into the larger Universal Music Group. His site doesn't say whether or not the album will be released through Universal, only promising that "The wait is over."
