There was a episode where Fred's baldheaded male friend had a daughter that was fat that Fred wanted Lamont to take out on a date. Lamont didn't wanna do it but Fred made him do it. Fred's friend had a wife too. So since Fred forced Lamont to take her out, Lamont decided he was gonna get back at Fred by lying to him that he married her. Ya'll remember that episode? That episode was hilarious cause that woman was fat as hell LOL. All she wanted to do was eat hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha. I think she had a afro too. She reminded me of Shirley from What's Happening tv show.

I think that episode is one of the best from season two!! Eventhough the jokes to Barbara Jean were cruel...it was hilarious!! I love when Fred asked her about weight watchers. "What does everybody do...eat for 30 days." And when Grady (her stepfather) said that she could'nt go on long walks cause her thighs rub together and give her a rash.

Richard Pryor wrote that episode. The bald guy played Alderman Davis on Good Times and his name in this S&S episode was Grady. He was Fred's cousin, which makes it weird that he would have wanted to hook Lamont up with his stepdaughter.

I like when Fred and Lamont go into the kitchen to get her something to eat, but there really in there laughing. Lamont says, "yeah she lost 40 pounds" and then Fred says "I bet if she looks behind her she will find them."

For those of you who are fans of the "Airport" movies; Grady was in the original (the one with Dean Martin and Burt Lancaster). He played Ned the security supervisor for the airport.

Yeah, that was a funny show. Damn, how many Grady's were there? Lamont Grady Sanford, Grady Wilson, and now Alderman Davis, LOL.
But there something about it that trips me out to this day. How could it be? Was Betty Jean in on the joke too? She didn't seem like it. I think she actually thought she was getting married. Did Lamont propose to her earlier, only to break her heart? Either way, it seemed that Lamont didn't want to marry her. My belief is that Lamont+marriage= Lamont is gone. He knew that Fred would have a fit if he left, so he probably knew that he would sabbotage it somehow. But I still don't agree with that part. Go back and watch it. |

Lamont never proposed to Betty Jean. He pretended like he was gonna marry her just to get back at Fred for Fred forcing him to take Betty out when Lamont didn't want to.

Actually, the bald headed guy was Fred's cousin Grady, who recently remarried and he gained an overweight stepdaughter that was named Betty Jean. I reemember near the end of the episode when Lamont told Fred that he was marrying Betty Jean and moving to St. Louis, Fred had one of his hilarious, phony heart attacks.

So Lamont would've been marrying blood, in a way.

If he didn't propose to her, then she was in on the joke also. at the end she really seemed like lamont had proposed to her. That was kind of strange now that you mention it nerrad
