The Greensboro Coliseum will host an “American Idol” viewing party on Wednesday, May 26th at 8:00 PM. Triad fans have the opportunity to come out to support their own as High Point, North Carolina’s Fantasia Barrino battles co-finalist Diana DeGarmo to see who captures the crown for the third season of FOX’s wildly popular “American Idol.”

Former “American Idol” runner-up Clay Aiken will be at Greensboro Coliseum to serve as the viewing party’s host and provide live cut-ins to the program’s nationally broadcast two-hour season finale. The Coliseum will open its doors at 6:00 PM and fans are expected to arrive early. Admission is free and seating is general admission. Parking is also free.

“American Idol” came to the United States in the summer of 2002 and became an overnight success, growing to an audience of over 30 million viewers for the first season’s finale. This season more than 70,000 auditioners have attempted to become the next “American Idol.” Triad area fans are encouraged to come out to the Greensboro Coliseum on May 26 and support hometown finalist Fantasia Barrino as she attempts to follow in the footsteps of past winners Kelly Clarkson and Ruben Studdard. .

Yay for Clay (so corny...o well.) It is partly because she's from his home state, but he said it's not just that, he genuinely thinks she's better. Kim Caldwell is hosting Diana's party thing in Snelleville, even though she also likes Fantasia more...

are you serious? Kim just wants attention because she is an attention whore. In the top 4, Kim picked her to win but she picked different people EVERY week. Top 6 it was La Toya, Top 5 Fantasia, Top 4 Diana, Top 3 Fantasia.

Yeah but at the begining of the competition he said he would be jelous if Fantasia won b/c NC is his state. lol.

Bottom line, Clay was apparently scheduled to perform on the AI finale, but when he changed management 19E changed its mind. They said they only wanted to feature "the winners" on the finale. He was then given the Greensboro hosting gig (not his choice). The hope is that they'll draw an even bigger crowd for Fantasia than he got last year for RBC. He won't be singing.

yeah it's because she is signed to 19E. That's why she helped write that song and why "Star" was featured at the end of the Hawaii auditions.
