The Chief from Gimme a Break
or Coach from Cheers I think both had been sick for quite some time. However, I think both characters lasted until the finale of the season, then died shortly after the episode was filmed. But which death shocked you most? Did you expect them to happen, or was it a surprise? Was the public aware of the health of these men? I think when Watching Gimme A Break it's easy to see that the Chief was at his end (Lost most of his hair and was really thin), but the Coach from Cheers I think looked the same until the end. What does everyone else think? |

Selma Diamond from Night Court also died around the same time (actually, only like 2 or 3 weeks after Dolph Sweet did)
ironically, my parents watched all 3 series |
