Exclamation Big Seinfeld DVD News- Three seasons to be released!

Seinfeld - More information trickles out...
Posted by Gord Lacey
5/20/2004

Earlier today we received this email from a trusted news source. Please keep in mind that this is not official information until it is announced by the studio, and it could change before the set is announced. We're posting this because it's one of the first glimpses we have at what Columbia TriStar has in store for the show.
As mentioned, I attended a presentation from Columbia today, where they presented the Seinfeld DVD package. There is no set date yet. November was mentioned. What is set is that there will be a season 1 and 2 box - total 18 episodes, 4 discs , $49.95 SLP and a Season 3 box, 22 Episodes, 4 discs, same SLP. They are also planning a gift set of the 2 boxes combined ,with a TBD gift item, at a list price of $129.95. They showed some of the new footage that will be part of the extras, with Seinfeld walking around NYC to different landmarks, including the convenience store where he and Larry David were shopping, and conceived the idea for the show ! They also showed snippets of Larry David speaking, and some other footage implying that there will be other behind the scenes footage. They are going to promote it like an event film title, and have very high expectations, without a doubt!!!
This sounds very exciting, and we'll keep you updated with any information we obtain from the studio, or through other channels. Please don't forget out disclaimer: this is not official information.

$130 hmmm that is steep. I am guessing the gift is that doll from the show that looked just like George's mom.

One curious thing is that the actual first 2 seasons totalled 17 episodes not 18.

And the third season was 23 episodes not 22.

And going by airdate it would make no sense to include one extra on the first DVD set and one less on the second set (3rd season).

The 23 episodes of season 3 were a full season run.

I'm assuming there is a mistake somewhere.

I might be not reading this correctly, but if season 1 and 2 are together and season 3 is separate why whould I have to pay 29 dollars too much? Season 1 and 2 together is 50 and season 3 is 50, why am I paying $129.50?

It's great news that the Dvd's are coming out, but that is steep for the box set. Even seperately that is steep.

I think because it is supposed to some kind of "special" set with some kind of (TBD??) "gift."
The deluxe set thing I guess.

The box set must have some sort of bonus gift.

If the 2 sets are $50.00 suggested price, that means you can get it for under $40.00.

Personally, I will get season 3 first, and the 1&2 set can wait.

Season three has 22 episodes if you count the 1Hr Episode "The Boyfriend" as one episode instead of two.

Don't know about the 18 eps, must be a mistake, remember nothing is official, they may change the gift set price at a later date, but maybe the gift is worth the extra money.

I can't wait, I can't wait!

It is especially exciting that they are quickly releasing the seasons, giving us three seasons at a time. I hate how most shows make you wait six months in between each season. If Seinfeld was smart he would release all the seasons within a year (like one season each month). There is just no point in spacing them out. It doesn't make me want the dvds any more or less by the amount of time between each season's release date. Does anyone else feel my pain?

There are four cover art options in the survey (provided by a link at tvshowsondvd.com)

Here's one of the options for the packaging of "Seasons 1&2"....

To be honest, since it deals with seasons 1&2, it should have an earlier picture of the cast.
