Default Is Lucy going to fade away?

Hello - Do any of you think Lucy will fade away and no one will care about her or do you think she'll remain popular? Explain what you think.

I think about this often, and the awful, horrible, unbelievable truth is..probably so. I'm 15 currently, and when I'm 35, ILL will be 73 years old..when I'm 50 (I don't even want to think about that!), ILL will be 88 years old! And if the times around us are changing this fast, I'm afraid ILL will be swept away by its current.

LET'S NOT THINK ABOUT THAT RIGHT NOW, THOUGH!

Still, if TV Land tries to take ILL off for good, I will..I will..DO SOMETHING VERY BAD! BWUAHAHA!

LONG LIVE DESI & LUCY!

I doubt it. The show is still going strong over a half century after it debuted. You can't say that about many other shows. Even though it's not shown on tv too often right now, people are still buying a lot of ILL merchandise. And with more things becoming available (like Here's Lucy), people's interest should remain.

I don't think I Love Lucy will fade away. It's too much of a classic to just up and disappear. Besides, the show stars one of American's top 10 pop culture icons: Lucille Ball!

LONG LIVE DESI & LUCY!

Hey Crazyredhead, if you love I Love Lucy, perhaps my experience will give you some hope for the future...

When I was about 14 or 15, I remember having a conversation with my friends, and one of us came up with the idea of forming a TV station which would only show reruns of classic shows... we figured it would be great to have a TV station that would just show things like "I Love Lucy" "Get Smart" "Green Acres" and all of those great shows... as you probably know, Nick at Nite and TV Land stole our idea, and the rest is history...

But we had that conversation back in about 1974...30 years ago... and some of my friends thought that I Love Lucy wouldn't be on that much longer, because it was already almost 25 years old at THAT time... when you're 14 or 15, 25 years does seem like forever....But, as I'm sure you're aware, I Love Lucy has never been off the air since then...

I remember mentioning to them that I didn't think I Love Lucy would ever go off the air, because great comedy is great comedy... at that time, the Marx Brothers movies were having a bit of a revival, and they pre-dated I Love Lucy by 15-20 years themselves...and even though TV is different from movies, if a show is good enough, it'll last...

And so, here we are, 30 years later, and I Love Lucy is still going strong... I don't think you need to worry about Lucy ever going off the air... you might not think that kids a generation from now will like it, but look at you...you're 15, and you sound like quite a fan...and there are a lot of you out there...and your kids'll love it too...if they give it a chance...

Actually, I take part of that back....I'm thinking that there is ONE thing that could kill I Love Lucy for TV...and that's if EVERYONE ends up owning the complete series on DVD...

NO WAY!!!!!!!

Lucy isn't going anywhere, Lucy will go on being loved by generations yet to come. If she isn't dead yet in this hellatious world we live in now, where morals have typically been flushed down the toilet, then she isn't going anywhere anytime soon. I know many youngsters that absolutly love her and there many youngins that have their parents take them to the annual Lucy Fests in her home town, A friend I once had has a neice that is already showing signs of being as much a Lucy Fan as her auntie, and I have a feeling that will be one trait that will be handed down for generations to come.
Lucy has made history, it is said that her face has been seen more times by more people than any other persona in HISTORY, well at least one under the Savior Himself, at least she is in good company.
She has the standards for many talented indiviuals in the medium of television, and she will continue to inspire many, many more.
So now all I have to say to that is
YOU GO LUCY!!!!!

The only way for ILL to stay alive is for your kids to love Lucy too. When this generation is gone, what about the next? Will they be loving Lucy?

Nah, I don't think people will ever stop loving Lucy, even many, many years from now. As long as it's still being aired or they're selling the episodes, more people in the future will get into it. I've been a Lucy fan since I was a little kid (I'm 17 now) and I Love Lucy is still pretty popular for first airing over 50 years ago, her comedy just doesn't get outdated. Even after repeatedly watching episodes, it still makes me laugh.
