OMG Yes!
When I was a kid, all during the summer they would advertise their albums. They were like what MUSIC NOW! is like today. Thanks for the info.

On another message board, I talk with the woman who runs that site quite often. She's really nice.

K-Tel was the record label for compilations. All the albums on this site rocks.
This is one heck of a site. This is what they call it, pre-Rhino Records. Before my time, K-Tel used to put out albums on TV. But now, all the K-Tel albums could be found at any second hand stores, garage sales, flea markets and thrift stores. Here is an old commercial for "Hit Machine" in 1976.http://dt.prohosting.com/70s/adulttv/hitmach.au |

$5.99 LP/$7.99 tape, makes a great christmas gift.
Can you imagine 20 hits on this album and one of them is Rick Dee's Disco Duck.

But now, all the K-Tel albums are not in music stores anymore, sometimes they do.
The albums from K-Tel are definitely hard to find in flea markets. I was at the Dutchess County Fair Flea Market last month and I saw a batch of K-Tel albums. The used albums are about either $.50 or $1.00 a piece.

K-Tel albums ruled! My favorite was a comp called "The Rock Album" released in 1980. It included great songs by Kansas, Blue Oyster Cult, Robin Trower, Jethro Tull ect.
I had some 70s disco and pop comps too It was amazing how they could squeeze 20 songs onto an LP

A lot of these albums contains a few songs that it was edited, because it doesn't make room for these albums.
K-Tel has done poorly edited. The songs that I have is "Super Bad" featuring the songs that it was edit includes the following:1. "Walking in the Rain with the One I Love" (edit with different ending with the opening line without the Barry White phone call.) 2. "Shaft" (opening intro was cut.) I know a few songs that it was edited out on these K-Tel albums. That's a shame. It wasn't around before CD's came out.

A couple of Elton John singles made it on to K-Tel albums.
