Looks interesting, I'm not sure about the wind towers though. |

It looks great, the funny thing is, many people are saying that Mayor Bloomberg is relying on the Olympic bid to get this stadium built.

As a citizen of the West Side of Manhattan, this project is creating a lot of controversy. Many folks are against it. Lots of flyers and "No Stadium" posters are being dispalyed. Who knows what's going to happen... |

Interesting TJL. Why the opposition? I assume because it will displace some people and cause crowding during games?
What kind of area is it in? From the article it sounded like they were trying to revitalize the area to some degree. Wouldn't most football fans there like to see the Jets play in the city? |

But alas, there will always be groups that will complain if one citizen or business has to vacate the area. The biggest problam is traffic. As you can see by the drawing, there aren't any adjacent parking structures. There are parking lots in the area, but they would be filled to capacity. Plus traffic going in and getting out of NYC via the Lincoln Tunnel would be a hassle (as it always is). There are no subways West of 8th Avenue, so it's going to be a bit of a hike to get to the new stadium, so subway lines would eventually have to be extended to 11th and/or 12th Avenue. There are talks of having ferry services delivering people from across the river in NJ and from lower Manhattan, but the biggest problem is car traffic. As a sports fan, yeah it would be cool to walk ten minutes to the stadium to see a game, but it's a monumental project that's just going to cause headaches and make Manhattan even more crowded. |

The truth is most NY politicians think building the stadium in Queens would be more feasible .

I just can't imagine what it will do to the Lincoln Tunnel, it's horrendous as it is.

Sports are boring - but talking about them and making fun of them is an exhilarating activity.
