Default 2012 Possible Olympic sites reduced to 5

New York, London, Paris, Madrid, and Moscow are on the list. The winner will be announced next year. I seriously doubt New York gets it in 2012, since in 2010 it will be in British Columbia.

These are the summer olympics.

Paris is favored BTW, followed by London.

Somehow, I really do think New York will get it. I hope not though, the traffic would be unbearable!

Well, Europe has the next two Olympics(Athens and Italy), so I guess NYC has a chance. I can just imagine traffic though, LOL It's already bad enough.

I'm sorry to hear that. I was in Austria last year and Salzburg had a bid on hosting the 2010 games, and they really wanted it. They were doing shameless campaigning, and it's such a pretty city it would have been the perfect place. Too bad

Yea, but Austria's held the Winter Olympics twice before. I wish they'd go to countries where the Olympics haven't been hosted yet. Canada held the Winter Olympis once before, in 1988 in Calgary. Sure, I would have prefered it to be in a different country since Canada's already hosted them, but twice isn't bad. We've never hosted the Olympics before, and the closest bid we have currently is 2016 (We bid in 2006 and 2012, but surprise, surprise, the Olympic committee didn't give us the bid )

As for 2012, I hope New York gets it. The other three cities have aready hosted before, Moscow once and Paris and London twice.

The article says that Europe is the favorite because of the 2008 Summer games in Asia (Beijing) and the 2010 games in Canada.

So it could be viewed as Europe's turn against NY and the 2010 games are being held in Canada, which would also be against NY.

If New York can't have it, I hope London gets it.

It better not be in Paris.

J/K

I don't want to see it in Madrid or Moscow though, Blah.

I wouldn't even mind Paris (The last time they hosted was in 1924, over 80 years ago, 1900 was their first year, 104 year ago), it's just that they've also hosted the winter Olympics three times, in Chamonix, Grenoble, and Albertville, in 1924, 1968, and 1992, respectively. I'm looking on how many times the country has hosted, not by who lives there.

Just watch it be Paris though (for more reasons that I won't mention)...

My order is this: NY, London, Madrid, Paris, Moscow.

Moscow hosted in 1980, but Russia's infrastructure is too poor to host right now, maybe in the future. And Barcelona had the games in 1992. It's too bad Rio de Janiero didn't advance further - that was my top pick out of the top nine candidates (The games have neevr been held in Brazil, let alone South America.)
