Nancy Disses FOL - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

I was recently made aware of an interview in the "Village Voice" with Nancy Mckeon in which when asked about her FOL days she had this to say:

"I hold mixed emotions about those years, on one hand it was a good time in my life but on the other it was one of the worst periods in my life as well. I don't like to discuss the nine seasons that I did the show; it is over and done with. The thing that bugs me the most are the fanatical people that worship the show and memorize every camera angle and piece of dialogue. These are the people that insist upon calling me 'Jo' when they encounter me in the street and the ones that I choose to ignore; I won't sign any autographs if they call me 'Jo.' That may sound harsh but if it is the only way they can see me as Nancy Mckeon, actress, instead of Jo than so be it. I made a conscious decision to divorce myself from the bubblegum role of the "Facts of Life" and that is why I chose not to participate in the reunion movie. I want people to see me as a serious actress on the "Division" and other similar projects instead of as an adolescent sitcom character."

Ok, I'm skeptical. Is there anyway you can verify this? What is the "Village Voice" and where can I find it? I must see it to believe it, because it really doesn't sound like something she would say IMO.

Yeah, I was going to ask the same thing. On Nancy's interview on "The View", she never said anything that mean towards FOL. I really think that is fake. Because if it is, please do not post mess like that.

I don't think she said that. It doesn't sound like her and even if she did, who cares, she has a point. There's things that go on that nobody has n e idea about. Maybe during that time, thing's were kinda bad, who knows??? Besides I've never even heard of that magazine or if it is a magazine. If it's just from a magazine and from like a website I don't believe that is true that she said that. Besides, u know how magazines can stretch the truth. Now think, does that really sound like our Nancy???

I guess since you say the "Village Voice" doesn't exist then it will come as quite a shock to the many readers of the paper. Just for the record the "Village Voice" is a reputable newspaper published in New York City.

Okay: Now I do understand she doesnt want to be called Jo everywhere she goes! Her name is Nancy not Jo! But Im just pissed that she wont sign autographs and ignore u if you do call her Jo. Is it just me?

Mr. Bradley,

According to my friends who live in NY, they have never heard of such a paper. Do you have a valid source? Why would Nancy make such a quote in a NY newspaper?
Also, in recent articles and TV appearances she said she has fans running up to her calling her Jo and she acknowledges them warmly. Even in the PEOPLE magazine it said something to the effect of a waitress serving "Jo".
