Disposable DVD's - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

I saw this today on tv. It's about a DVD disc that you buy at the nearest EZ-Mart type store. You can watch it for 48hrs but after that it's color turn black from red and it's unwatchable. Right now, it's in the test phase and there are very little tittles available. Also, it doesn't include the special features a regular DVD has. Would you buy a disposable DVD?

what the!??!?

they already tried this in the late 90's around the time DVD's first came out.... it was called DIVX. It died a quick painless death because the consumers resisted it.

Seriously, it's a stupid idea. When you think of all that you're getting with a legitimate dvd (the main feature, bonus materials, etc.) and that you'd be able to own it as long as you live at a reasonable price, it makes no sense to get disposable dvds. Weighing the value difference between owning the normal, legitimate dvd and a disposable 48-hour one, I'd just choose the legitimate version every time. Plus, that's just more garbage that'll take forever to disintegrate.

they scoffed at the concept of DIVX 5 years ago, I don't see why consumers would like it now either
