First Season Question - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

Hey all. I was just wondering if anyone knows what happen to Lt. Meg Austin after the first season? She is played by Tracey Needham who is one of my two favorite actresses, and they just started showing seaon one reruns, so I thought I'd watch it. Does anyone know what happens, as to why she isn't in the other seasons. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

JAG was canceled, and when NBC picked up the show, they wanted to change Harms sidekick.

I liked Meg more, but I am in the minority. I thought she was awesome in her role, and I liked the first season. Lucky for us, we'll get to see her again when the first season is released!

Actually, it wasn't CBS (which picked the show up for a second season) that wanted to replace Needham - it was producer Don Bellisario himself. You'll notice in the pilot that Needham does not appear; instead the gorgeous Andrea Parker plays sidekick Kate Pike. NBC ordered Bellisario to replace Parker with Needham after the pilot, a change he didn't want. When the show moved to CBS, Bellisario was finally able to get rid of Needham, whom he never wanted. Parker was already committed to "The Pretender" by then, so he brought in Catherine Bell.
