Default "WINGS" Fans Are The BEST!

I just wanted to post this message letting all of you know how much I appreciate you and this friendly message board....

It's obvious that we all love "Wings", but we also have some things about the series that we DON'T like (certain seasons, certain characters DURING certain seasons, certain episodes, certain scenes, etc.). However, we are free to discuss them intelligently on this message board, and everyone respects everyone else's opinions, even if we personally disagree with them.

This week I received a very sudden and rude shock....I watched the Dick Van Dyke reunion special and made the mistake of posting my thoughts about it on "Sitcom Online"'s "Dick Van Dyke" message board. There were some things about the special that I wasn't wild about, but I was very polite and factual in my criticism.....but the whole thread has turned into one big online argument!

Check out the message thread about the Van Dyke reunion show, and see how ANYONE who wasn't 100% in love with the special was attacked by the "loyal fans". I tried to respond and explain my reasoning in follow-up posts, but I just gave up after awhile. Any thoughts which were not 100% in blind support and admiration of the special were shouted down and the criticizing posters made to feel like Satan himself!

I have NEVER seen such rudeness on THIS message board, and I want you all to know that I appreciate your friendliness and tolerance for opinions which may differ from yours....Thanks for being here!

I know what you mean. There are some sitcom messageboards where the fans are just mean. That, to me, says something not only about the people, but about the show as well.

"Wings" fans are good, friendly people.

I'd like to meet all of you guys at like a Wings convention (I know it won't happen, it's just a cool thought). I think we all would get along, however if some other show fans got together, there'd be nothing but fighting.

Little Off Topic:
I haven't posted much around here lately because I haven't watched "Wings" for months. It's still my second favorite show which shows that even if I don't watch this show, it's just that good.

yeah! I know how other message boards can be!
I think that's why this is really the only message bord that I've stuck with for over a year now. I'm free to express my opinions about the show (or just random things in life. hehe) without getting jumped on by all who don't agree with my opinions!
you guys are the best!

Ok, back to my studying...

i know! wouldn't that be so cool for us all to be able to get together and meet?! I mentioned it here a few weeks ago- like, we could make our own fan convention. But no one, except for Peter, replied that they'd be interested! I think it would be so much fun for us all to get together, and meet eachother, and watch some Wings together.... and everyone can bring along any friends or family members who also like wings too!
We could wear those cool "HI my name is...." nametags with our screennames and real names on them. hahahaha!!

ok, I really need to go do my homework now. Have a good day, everyone!

I still haven't seen the DVD special yet but I have it on tape. I saw the posts though. Crazy! But when us wingnuts get into a heated arguement over who was better, Lowell or Bud, I'm outta here.

I can't stand rude behavior either. People like that are pathetic losers who take their anger and frustration about their sorry lives out on other people. I've had people attack me for my opinions at other message board sites. I don't understand how someone can take it as a personal insult if someone likes their least favorite TV show or doesn't like their favorite singer or something like that. I guess they have no other interests in life.

I guess I should have heeded Antonio's advice about not discussing politics. Look what I started over at the Chit Chat section. All I said was that I'm happy to be living in a state that finally recognizes gay marriages.

I see the thread you started is now closed. Thats nothing compared to some of the threads on the political board. It was nuts.

Oh yeah, I wasn't surprised at all when TJ finally decided to do away with that section. It did get pretty entertaining at times though

I do stand by my belief that gay couples should be allowed to marry. I don't understand how someone can hate another person and deny them basic rights as a human being just because of their race, religion, ethnic background, or sexual orientation.

don't get me started on poltical issues. I think once I voiced my opinion, this would turn into a whole huge discussion, THEN i think we'd all argue. lol.
So I'm going to keep my mouth shut.

You're right. Let's not start an argument on politics here. We don't want to upset Antonio (That was funny when Brian was helping him drive his cab. ) We can have fun arguing about Wings instead. Hmmm... I think anyone who thinks Lowell is funnier than Antonio is a stupidhead!

I haven't posted here in awhile, I've had so many personal problems going on that I haven't been online, and then I end up reading the Iraqi bloggers and don't have time to do anything else!

Thanks, Pilotguy. I think you're right. This is a good group of people, and I really feel comfortable here.

Politics - DO NOT DISCUSS!! -- unless with very close personal friends. Issues are so complex!! Something like gay marriage that one person thinks is a "basic right" is a *totally* different thing to another person!!!! Online discussions revolve too much around generalizations and stereotypes. So politics (IMNSHO) should only be discussed with really good friends or people you know IRL!!

Love,

Wing<><

I agree!!! I always used to wonder why people always say "never discuss religion or politics." But now recently, that I have strong opinions on both matters, I know why!! I only feel comfortable discussing political issues with really close friends, or family. I don't care if we have completely differening opinions and get into an argument over it. It's fun, and since they are really good friends, or family, I'm not afraid that they'll never want to talk to me again. hahaha.
Or once in a while, I like to go somewhere online where I don't really know people, and spout off my opinions on my "soapbox", and then leave. hehehe
But I don't want to discuss politics with people who I like, but don't know well, because then I'm afraid I'll offend them, and they won't want to talk to me anymore.

uh-huh! you don't say?! sounds great! i just watched that episode last night.

this forum really is the best! it's like being in Nantucket the way Wings portrayed it if you get what i mean. pardon me for sometimes i don't make sense. :embarasslaugh:

true! true! true! there are some rude people in other message boards and in chat rooms too. once, i was called stupid by another poster, because i had a different stand on the issue he raised. it was a social issue. i believe he wanted me to just say uh-huh to the point he raised.

i also got kicked and banned for a month on a certain chat room. i don't really know why. i think it was partly because i'm a friend of her enemy and partly because she did not take my joke very well. first she warned me for saying hello twice. she said "makulit, please do not repeat." then i said "oh! i did not know it's so strict in here. oh! i did not know it's so strict in here." i sincerely thought that was funny. i figured it wasn't since she had me kicked & banned.

so, if ever you think i offended anyone here in any way please tell me so i could properly give a sincere apology.
