Phil Spector Arrested in LA in Scuffle with Driver
Reuters LOS ANGELES - Rock producer Phil Spector, already facing murder charges in the shooting death of a B-movie actress at his Los Angeles area home, was arrested on Friday after an altercation with his chauffeur, police said. Spector, 63, and his driver, who was not immediately identified, were both taken into custody at the "Wall of Sound" producer's 33-room mock castle in the Los Angeles suburb of Alhambra by officers who arrived to find them trying to place each other under citizen's arrest, police said. "When we arrived we were greeted by Mr. Spector and his chauffeur and they advised that they had been involved in a physical altercation over their business relationship," Alhambra police Lt. Elliot Kase said. "There were no weapons involved in the incident, and Mr. Spector and his chauffeur ultimately placed each other under citizen arrest for assaulting each other," Kase added. The 46-year-old chauffeur complained of pain in his jaw and Spector claimed to have suffered a minor hand injury in the scuffle, which occurred at about 10 a.m. PDT (1 p.m. EDT), Kase said. Both were treated at the scene by paramedics before they were taken to the Alhambra police station, he said. Spector was released on Friday afternoon with a citation to appear in court on June 14. The chauffeur also was expected to be released later on Friday, Kase said. Spector has been charged with the February 2003 murder of Lana Clarkson, a 40-year-old actress who starred in "Amazon Women on the Moon" and "The Barbarian Queen" who was found shot to death in his foyer. Spector, who is free on bail pending a trial in the sensational case, has pleaded not guilty and said that Clarkson committed suicide. His attorneys could not immediately be reached for comment on the new arrest. |

AKA, thanks for the info. I don't know whether to laugh or cry. This is such a sad, sad thing for a man who is as talented as Phil Spector. He should have just stayed in that castle in Alhambra and never came out. Its kind of like the Phantom of the Opera. Weird!

Any idea on when the trial is going to be held? I hate it when a
criminal trial is dragged out or delayed. Our justice system was supposed to promise us as American citizens the right to a speedy trial by a jury of our peers. By the way, this marks 1,000 posts for me as a member of Sitcoms Online message boards since February 15, 2001. |
