I just tell them that I grew up watching the show and that it's part of my childhood.

Why should anyone be snickerd at? It's just a good show. There are shows that don't even measure up the comedic sense of Diff'rent Strokes.

I agree, but not everyone knows that. I was surprised when I started watching it on a regular basis at how clever and funny many of the scripts are. It's much better than many of the annoying sitcoms of today.
