Default any Queer As Folk fans here?

I just bought the third season for $50 off ebay (it's $120 retail). I know a lot of people here dislike it (which I respect your opinion, but that's not what I'm asking about in here). But are there any other fans of the series in here?

I thought the first season was GREAT, and the second and third was okay but nothing special, this year is shaping up to be the best season since it's premiere season.

I got into this show during the third season. It was different at first, but I started liking it as the characters had problems that people in real life would have. This last season was way better than season 3 and definately more depressing which I love. I am glad Ben and Michael got married. I love Michael's mother Debbie, she is hilarious at times. The only character on the show I can not stand is Justin. He is annoying and he looks stupid with Brian. I know a lot of fans disagree with me on that subject, but I just can't stand Justin.

I agree with you 100%. Justin lost his relevance on the show once he turned 18 towards the end of the first season. Part of the taboo of the show the first season was the "forbidden fruit" relationship between him and Brian.

I honestly think Justin could've died at the end of season 1 after the gaybashing and in the long run, it wouldn't have affected the series.

Actually I am glad they kept him in even though he is annoying, because when he got revenge on his gaybasher I was glad. I hate bigots and I think gays and lesbians should fight back. It would have been great if they kept Cody and made those two a couple and then write them out. That's how they should have done it.

I hope when QAF returns they keep Ben and Michael together. They're the only couple on the show I am hoping lasts. I don't want to see them turn out like Ted and Emmet.

I didn't want to start a new thread on this topic since there is already one for the show.

What does everyone think of the new season? IMO I think it's alright. Nothing great like the previous seasons. I don't care for the Brian/Justin story going on. I still want Brian to move onto someone more mature than Justin. I am glad they finally got rid of Hunter. He was annoying on this show. I am also glad Ben and Michael are still together. They are still my favorite couple on this show. I hope Showtime reruns this show from the beginning after the 5th season is over. There are still a few episodes I missed from season 1 and 2.

Showtime will drastically reduce the price of Queer as Folk season 1 DVD on August 23. The price will be lowered from $119.98 to $49.99.

I have progressively lost interest with each passing season. The first season was great, but the show has gotten more and more cliche as time went by.

My main beefs with the show:
1. It's obsession with perfection and everytime a man who is above a size 32 shows up, he's considered hideously fat. Even tho the bear/cub population is a huge part of gay culture, this show only glorifies twinks, when I know as many gay men who don't want a skinny boy as those who don't want a big guy. The majority of my gay male friends are in the bear/cub catagory as opposed to twinks. I am drawn to bigger guys, my on-off boyfriend from the past year weighs 230 at 5'11, so he's definately cub. Twinks make me sick.
2. it's great there was a tv show that was so unapologetically gay, but it got TOO unrealistic, such as Michael finding out his biological father was a drag queen, come on!
3. Brian having a kid was one thing, we were used to it from episode one, why did they have to go and make Michael a father too? It's not like THAT many gay men are surrogate fathers for crying out loud. At least they should've made it a baby for him and Ben to adopt and raise instead of it be Melanie's (and she has been on the rag ever since she gave birth IMO).
4. Ted = they took the most normal character and screwed him worst. They went way too far with the "addicted to masturbation" storyline, then the porn king storyline, and then he becomes the methhead, and then he became the makeover king, for crying out loud, you've ruined the character.
5. Rosie O'Donnell. We're supposed to laud her for guesting for a few episodes on the show yet she never once had anyone from QAF guest on her talk show (since season 1 and 2 had aired then) because back then she tried to shy away from all things gay, but now that she's the loudmouth lesbian, we're supposed to think she's so great for guesting.

I don't totally hate the show, just pointing out the flaws in it that really dropped it down since the beginning. QAF was appointment television for me it's debut season, it was my fave show, even more than Buffy, at the time, and then by season 2 it went down and now in season 5, I barely care to remember to tune in.
