Default George's Parents

What was the very first episode where George's Mom or Dad or both showed up?

Seems late, but 1st Georgie parent to appear was in 051 The Contest, but it was only Estelle (Estelle Harris).

Frank's 1st appearance was in 062 The Handicap Spot (both were in it).

Don't forget that Frank Costanza's 1st appearance was played by actor John Randolph. Jerry Stiller took the role starting with 066 The Puffy Shirt, but later 062 The Handicap Spot scenes were re-shot with Jerry Stiller as Frank (for US syndication).

I'd still like to see the original Frank in that episode.

It's on my Seinfeld to-do list.

Ok, I really don't have a list but if I did that would be on there, I guess it would be the only thing on there.

I'd imagine it will be on the DVD..... or.....
you could make a quick trip to the UK to catch a repeat

I much more remember the orig Morty (actor Phil Bruns) who was in 002 The Stakeout, they must have showed that one a lot more here, seems I'll occasionally still see it, unlikle the orig Frank, which you don't see here.

& star, you've mentioned how we now have seen them all & watch them out of order so some of bits loose their impact (like the return of Susan in the backwards/India ep.).
& now it seems wierd that Estelle was not intro-ed untill 051 The Contest and our 1st exsposure to her was her line in the hospitol bed:

ESTELLE: "I don't understand you. I really don't. You have nothing better to do at three o' clock in the afternoon? I go out for a quart of milk, I come home, and find my son treating his body like it was an amusement park!"

Well they do continue to show the 'other Morty' ('other Walter's' real father I believe) so that may be why he is in your mind.

OK, what I want to know is, if they could re-shoot those syndicated scenes w/ Jerry Stiller, why couldn't they do the same w/ Barney Martin??

Default vague theorys

IGNTBone, I'm not sure of this, but it's my take.
I believe they did also re-shoot the Morty scenes with [actor] Barney Martin (the Morty we know) as it seems I'll occasionally see both versions of (???). I would assume it was some difference in contracts worked out by the different actors.

PS- I just saw this on a script site re: 002 The Stakeout;
>>>"NOTE: When this episode is shown in syndication, Phil Bruns still plays Jerry's dad (a role later assumed by Barney Martin)."<<<

So maybe I'm wrong & they did NOT re-shoot them, that would make the contractual difference theory more plausable.

I have never seen the stakeout with anyone other than 'other Morty'.

Sounds like they didn't re-shoot for Morty then.
That makes sense, so apparently Jerry Stiller (Frank C) worked out a different deal then Barney Martin (Morty 2).

It would have been harder to re-shoot the stuff with Barney Martin because the Stakeout was done 5 years before they went into syndication.

The Handicap spot was only two years before so the actors in the scenes with Jerry Stiller wouldn't have looked that much different. Although I haven't seen the handicap spot for some time so I am not sure who was in the same scenes as Jerry Stiller in that episode.

At the same token, I wonder why they didn't reshoot the scenes involving the first Lloyd Braun(Peter Keleghan) with the new Lloyd Braun(Matt McCoy)

The first Lloyd was cocky and worthy of George's hatred/jeolosy. The 2nd one's personality was kind of like George, only with more hair and skinnier.
