Let's say the whole feud w/ Suzanne and the producers never happened and they kept Chrissy. Do you think the episodes would've been the same as episodes with Cindy and Terri? Would Three's Company have lasted ALL 8 seasons? Would the finale be the same? I just wanted to know your opinions on this b/c I don't think the show would've lasted b/c I think after a couple seasons with Chrissy if would've gotten boring and the storylines would kinda be the same. It was interesting with the Terri episodes because alot of them had to do with the hospital and new people. With Chrissy, it would've been the same old. Don't get me wrong , Chrissy is my fav. character , but the show would've been the same. What do you think?

I think Three's Company would have be funnier if Chrissy continued in the show. Besides Jack and Mr. Furley, she provided a lot of laughs. And with Jack, Mr. Furley, AND Chrissy all in one episode would be guaranteed laughs. Terri and Cindy provided new storylines but they weren't necessarly as funny as Chrissy which caused the show to decline some, IMO. If the producers wanted to add more storylines in the show they could have just added another character (such as the instance of Lana).

I don't know how long the show would have lasted if Chrissy had stayed, but I think that the fact that she was replaced contributed to the show's longevity. There were many more kinds of stories they could do with Cindy and Terri.
I think that if Chrissy hadn't disappeared, her character would have kept getting dumber and dumber, which was what happened between seasons 1 and 4, and the show would have gotten worse as a result. |

I've thought about this before and, in a way, I look at the Suzanne Somers debacle as a bit of a blessing in disguise for the life of the series. When Priscilla Barnes was brought in, it sort of gave the show a new lease on life and allowed it to go in a fresh direction. If Suzanne had stayed, along with the "dumb blonde" element she brought to the show, I think it's quite possible that this facet of humor would have worn out its welcome with viewers long before the end of Season 8.
Chrissy's ditziness did get more and more over the top as the seasons progressed. I thought she was absolutely precious in Seasons 1 and 2, but I find her character to be a bit exasperating during Season 4 and what little part of Season 5 she was in, sometimes to the point of not finding her amusing. Good, thought-provoking question!

I don't think it would've made a lot of difference length-wise or quality-wise.
Quality-wise, I think the show was pretty bad during its last two seasons with Terri anyway, so it wouldn't have made much of a difference to me. I thought most of the episodes from those two seasons were very subpar, with a few exceptions. While Chrissy might've made it burn-out a bit faster, it wouldn't really have affected it too much. Length-wise, I don't think it would've hurt it too much. In fact, I think it could've run a season longer than before. Chrissy was a popular character up until her demise, so I think her popularity could've helped the ratings a little bit, whereas with Terri and Cindy, they were still "new" to the audience (in seasons 5 and 6, anyway). I don't see how the show could've dropped from #2 to the point where it would be cancelled between 1980 and 1982 or 1983. |

I can't think of how it would be with her. I just always wonder if, had Chrissy stayed on the show, would as many people still want Jack and Janet together, and would there be as many Jack and Janet episodes? Because if she had stayed until the end they would have all been together for the same amount of time. So if she had stayed i think the last episode Jack would have ended up with one of the girls, but the big ending would be finding out which one. lol Just a thought i had...might not make sense though.

i agree with whomever said the show would have ended earlier. i think the change in characters did help the longevity of the show.people were interested and tooned in for different storylines. its ovious though suzanne somers would have left at some point cause of $ issues. there is no doubt in my mind if she would have lasted the duration....she would have married jack and probably got a spinoff....but it would have had to have been the chrissy from seasons one or two-even summers had admitted in interviews she didnt like playing the ditsy chrissy from seasons 3 to 5....besides, her and hubby alan were all for the chrissy/jack marriage.

Well nobody can actually tell if the show would hv been more or less successful should the charater of Chrissy were to continue. but in my opinion i really think that the show survived for 8 seasons because of the change of characters. Sure Chrissy was a great character who brought us many laughs but she was really getting dumber & dumber. Cindy i didn't quite like at all but Terri was just as great as Chrissy. She may not have been really naive & goofy but i think this change did to some extent create some novelty in the show & provided for new storylines. .
As for Jack & Janet ending up together i really think there was always the potential between the 2 right from the start. And no matter whether Chrissy stayed or not Jack & Janet were just meant to be.

Yeah, I had thought about that and wondering how the show would have been if Suzanne Somers had stayed and after reading the other posts here, I have to agree. It was interesting that they added Cindy and Terri and came up with new storylines.

Okay, say Suzanne stayed and it still lasted eight seasons and she kept getting dumber and dumber, by season eight I can't imagine how dumb she would be, but definatley unhealthily!
