Exclamation Viacom?

For the past week or so I have noticed that at the end of the show here, on the local channels (not sure about N@N, haven't checked), at the end where it usually plays the Carsey Werner logo twice it only plays it once now and then the, do do do do do do...VI-A-COM..., comes on instead. Now I have no idea what this could possibly mean, but could it mean that Viacom now owns the rights to the show and could that mean that they could put it on DVD. I know that that is probably a stretch, but I thought that I would ask anyways.

I know for a fact when Roseanne originally aired on ABC during the last seasons (7-8), I distinctly remember at the end after the CARSEY WERNER logo and the one with the Witch logo appeared, the "Paramount" logo and the signature soundtrack would appear/play. VIACOM owned Paramount at the time and still does, but on Nick At Nite (Which is VIACOM owned also) when Seasons 7-8 aired, instead of the Paramount logo showing at the end, it flashed 1 extra Carsey-Werner Logo (the second logo replacing where the paramount logo was when it originally aired on ABC). Hope that helps!

Yeah I seem to remember it saying "Viacom" when it originally aired. (I can't believe I remember that, seeing as I wasn't a fan of the show during its original airtime). When it started showing on Nick@Nite, I just assumed that Viacom no longer had the rights to it. But you reminded me that Nickelodeon which is owned by MTV, which eventually roots down to Viacom. I think Viacom no longer owns the show. I contacted Carsey-Werner about purchasing episodes and they told me to check with Paramount. I went to the Paramount website and it had a list of their TV shows that were available. It didn't list Roseanne under any of their lists, not even the Viacom list. I surely hope that Viacom gained the rights, maybe they will put it on DVD. But then again, what you have seen may be just some unedited tapes that weren't changed for syndication.

For what it's worth, the show airs on the *Paramount* Channel here in the UK, and has always ended with the Viacom tag

Its wierd I watch my local channels for Roseanne in the afternoon, quite faithfully, because I am usually watching Adult Swim at night, and they even show the episodes unedited and with the Roseanne Logo during one of the commercials. And I clearly remember and in fact even have episodes on tape from these channels that show the Carsey Werner logo twice. And now they show the Viacom logo.

The episodes that are on right now are season 3-4 and 6-7, so I dont know why the Viacom logo would be showing since you remember them only on 7-8. I don't know...but I wont get my hopes up for DVD's since this is probably nothing and I am making something of it.

The Viacom logo wasn't part of the original ABC airings (neither was the Carsey-Werner logo).

The Viacom logo was added to the end of the show in 1992 when the show went into syndication. It was later changed to a Paramount logo (same company) and even later to just plain Carsey-Werner.

What you were seeing was the first prints made for syndication, that's all.

I recall the Viancore logo in the 1970's for other shows. it was cruder looking.
