Wink Just Call Me Lefty...

Well guys and dolls, looks like TJL is on the disabled list for a while...

I broke my right middle finger at work today. We were moving some heavy steel beams when one of them fell and landed on a piece of angle iron I was placing underneath it, crushing my hand and sending me into a fit of profanity that cannot be measured by modern technology.

Luckily, the break is at the tip of the finger, which is a bit swollen and bruised. I have to see an orthopedic specialist
on Wednesday who will tell me how long I'll be laid up. The emergency room Doc (who looked like none of the oh so gorgeous folks on ER) said it'll be a few weeks until I'm back on my finger again.

On the positive side, I can still type, so I'll be able to catch up on some projects, and the splint I have to wear enables me to flip everyone the bird!!

No Darvocet or Hydrocodone?

Get well soon, and hopefully you'll be back on your finger soon

Thanks guys.

You'll be happy to know I've decided to give myself some time to heal.

I'll wait until tomorrow night before I start drinking.

Reminds me of when I dropped a huge wooden plank on my finger last summer. I was in shock, I couldn't believe the pain. I just stood there staring at it for a while. Nothing broke, just made my fingernail turn black.

My fingernail is fine. The other side of my finger is purple and swollen.

You know in cartoons when a character smashes his thumb with a hammer and it balloons up and starts throbbing?

It looks just like that.

Enjoy your dinner.

A few years back when my dad was building the porch. He was using a nail gun, and put a nail right through his thumb. Blood was everywhere. He is ok now. But he was in pain.

Haha. that bit about the ER doc cracked me up.

Man, breaks are a bitch. I hope it's not hurting too badly. No pain medicine? That's just cruel. I'm glad the break didn't inhibit your ability to do two necessary things though--type and flip the birdie! At least you lucked out there.

i've done that a couple of times; i once had a 2-1/2" finishing nail (the thin ones) shoot into the trim piece, hit something which made it deflect out the side of the piece of wood into my thumb, where it hit a bone and deflected back out - effectively stapling myself to the wall

- get well tjl

Poor, Poor TJL...........

The good thing is that you can type so we could still hear from you.

I hope the pain subsides. (You can always use the other hand for a swig)
