I dig his most of his '70s stuff, and some of his early '80s output. After that, his catalogue has no appeal to me (my loss, adult contemporary radio's gain, I guess). That is, until 2001's excellent Songs From The West Coast, which recaptures that early Elton John/Bernie Taupin appeal.

I only like certain songs by him like:
Philadelphia Freedom- GREAT record Don't Go Breaking My Heart- really fun tune Little Jeannie- makes you really believe he was in love with some woman at that time in his life Rocket Man- great metaphorical writing Sorry Seems to Be the Hardest Word- his singing here is very good His more modern records don't do anything for me. |
