IF CHEERS WAS SUCH A SUCESSFUL SHOW DOES ANYBODY KNOW THE REASONS WHY IT FINISHED.

The rest of the cast was pretty keen onhaving a 12th season but Ted Danson felt it was time to move on. The writers and everyone thought that it wouldn't be right to continue the show without him. It is kind of good though because Cheers ended on top and will always be remembered for being great.

I remember at the time I was so pissed that Ted was quitting. I use to watch Cheers religiously every Thursday on NBC. Thinking about it now, it probably was a good move. Even though I think they could've squeezed a couple of good seasons out of it.

I think Cheers could have gone on for AT LEAST 3 more years.
But then again, at that rate Frasier may have never happened.... and the whole world would be different.

That might not be necessarily true. They could've easily shifted Frasier off to his own sitcom and continued Cheers at the same time.

If that were the case, I think Cheers' would have jumped the shark.

If it weren't for Frasier.... the show wouldve jumped the shark when Diane left.
But the combination of Frasier and Rebecca was a good replacement.

Im happy with the way it turned out.... I honestly think there isnt a bad episode in the entire bunch of both series.

275+264 = sh*tload of comedy.

What NORM said is the truth-Ted wanted 2 leave. For God's sakes, he played sxam for 11 YEARS-it's no wonder he wanted 2 leave. lol

*Laughs* Which is funny because Kelsey's played Frasier for 20 years and is still holding on. But, I think Ted made a smart move.

imo choosing to end a show while it's on top is 100 times better than trying to squeeze as many years out of it as you can. ted made a good decision and so did kelsey. of course i would have loved to see more cheers and frasier but ending it when they did was a smart move

I think it was smart to end when it ended. If the show went on any longer it would have seemed almost tooo long. People would give it up. Of course I wouldn't. I would have loved Cheers anyway!

i think if Cheers and Frasier coincided, neither would have turned out the way they did. Cheers would have fallen straight on its face, i think (opposed to how they ended it, while still on top), and Frasier wouldn't have lasted because there was still Cheers to watch.

but, it didnt turn out like that, so...
its all good
