We need to vote for more 80's shows (But So Far So Good) - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

Three's Company (Season 2)
Whos The Boss (Season 1)
Punky Brewster (Season 1)
Diff'rent Strokes (Season 1)

All coming out very soon. Even though 2 of these started in the end of the 70's era, they grow right into the 80's.

Lets all keep voting for these family-related shows. I think if we vote especially for family instead of those crappy shows like Cheers (LOL...it's not family-related), then I know people will want to buy them and then the people owning the rights will know they want to buy them (AKA TV ON DVD.COM VOTING WILL HELP A LOT).

Here's what I think we should vote for in my opinion....

Facts of Life (I see this coming out VERY SOON since Diff'rent Strokes will be released in September possibly)

Gimme A Break (I know this has some chances of being released, but the first few years dont center around Joey Lawrence. I am guessing that the stars who got their claim to fame will help bring this show to DVD...(Rosie O'Donnel/ Lawrence Brothers/ Jonathan Silverman. Over the 3rd-6th seasons, all these people got their "REAL" first claim to fame, and I am sure that the people who own the rights know that this would sell good for fans of these actors/ actress'.)

Silver Spoons (Of course Ricky Shroder will sell good.)

ALF (Of course he will sell really good)

Think about it. These 4 shows wil be introduced to kids of parents who lived in the late 70's and 80's in their childhood. I am sure all 4 will sell great! EVERYONE LOVED NELL, so I am sure Gimme A Break will sell good, since it's very rare to find these days. I think getting these 4 shows on DVD will help a lot with fans remembering how great these shows actually were, and still are today to people all over

....waiting to hear a rant about "Facts Of Life sucks, it doesn't belong on DVD because >>>>I<<<< am not going to buy it", well put a sock in it. There are plenty of us WHO WANT IT. If you don't like a tv show... DON'T BUY IT. Nobody is forcing you to.

Cheers is not crappy...It ran for 11 seasons. That's more than you can say about other shows. -_- Like Punky Brewster...that only ran for FOUR whoppin' seasons

Yes, I was especially revolted by the fact that Punky is coming out on DVD before Family Ties or Mama's Family. Where is the justice?

I agree, Punky is a cute show and I loved it when I was 6 years old, but it's not one I'd buy. I do know some people who love Punky though.

7 shows of the 80's I want on DVD (luckily Diff'rent Strokes is coming, that used to be on the list before it was announced)

1. Facts Of Life (I hate the first season, so I hope seasons 1 and 2 are bunched together)
2. Roseanne (overplayed, but unlike Cosby, I can handle it in extreme doses)
3. Mama's Family (especially the latter syndication episodes)
4. Family Ties
5. Gimme A Break (I can take or leave the last season though)
6. One Day At A Time (mostly a 70's show, but a good part of it's run was in the 80's)
7. A Different World (better than Cosby IMO, not as overplayed either)

Don't get me wrong - I liked Punky and stuff...I saw it in reruns when it was on...but still. It was on for only 4 seasons. I bet it didn't even break the 100 mark (if I do the math... 22 eps in one season = only 88 episodes). Cheers, on the other hand, broke 200

(just a quick fact - The Carol Burnett Show ran for 11 seasons, '67-'78, and did 278 episodes altogether...Cheers isn't too far behind)

Mama's Family managed to break 130 during its six-season run, and they didn't treat it correctly at the beginning, so it LOOKS like it ran for 8 seasons (there was a gap where they weren't making new episodes from April 1984 until June 1986).

Carol Burnett - 278, but CB has a much bigger lead -- episodes were twice as long

The 80s has the least amount of shows on DVD.
In fact -- "Cheers" may be the only one.
And anyone who calls any show "crappy" -- annoys me from this point forward, even I hate the same show.
People bash shows too much lately, saying you dont like a show is fine, but it doesnt make it "crappy"
