Early 20th Century "Minstrel Movies"
Anybody ever seen a movie that had a Minstrel "Blackface" musical show? The films that come to my mind now, are the old 1920's and 1930's Al Jolson films. MY husband has The Al Jolson Collection on Laserdisc. I've also seen some old Shirley Temple films that had Blackface characters in them as well.
Most of the Al Jolson films are pretty tasteless, in my opinion, but they are kind of facsinating to watch for historical interests. |
