Default TV Adam's Sitcoms of the 1990s Appreciation Thread!

I'll make different posts for different seasons. First up is the first full season of the 90s.

Best of the 1990-1991 Season:
ABC:
Who's the Boss? (Season 7)
Growing Pains (Season 6)
Perfect Strangers (Season 6)
Head of the Class (Season 5)
Full House (Season 4)
The Wonder Years (Season 4)
Coach (Season 3)
Roseanne (Season 3)
Doogie Howser, M.D. (Season 2)
Family Matters (Season 2)
Dinosaurs (Season 1) {Mid-Season}

CBS:
The Hogan Family (Season 6)
Designing Women (Season 5)
Doctor, Doctor (Season 3)
Murphy Brown (Season 3)
Major Dad (Season 2)
Evening Shade (Season 1)

FOX:
Married ... With Children (Season 5)
The Simpsons (Season 2)
Get a Life (Season 1)
Parker Lewis Can't Lose (Season 1)
True Colors (Season 1)

NBC:
Cheers (Season 9)
Night Court (Season 8)
The Cosby Show (Season 7)
The Golden Girls (Season 6)
A Different World (Season 4)
Dear John (Season 3)
Empty Nest (Season 3)
Wings (Season 2)
Seinfeld (Season 2) {Mid-Season}
Fresh Prince of Bel Air (Season 1)
Blossom (Season 1) {Mid-Season}

I'd say sitcom wise, NBC had the best sitcoms that year. Followed by FOX then ABC and then CBS.

Feel free to discuss the 1990-91 season. Even once I move onto the next season.

All I can say is that all the networks had top sitcoms then. Makes you wish they can come up with some good sitcom ideas today. As for the networks for that season I'll give the edge to NBC followed by ABC, then CBS and then Fox although I did love Married With Children.

it was all about Fox, NBC and ABC back then for me. My parents liked Evening Shade and Major Dad on CBS though.

NBC kicked ass back then.

Personally -- I think NBC has had the best sitcom on TV since "The Facts of Life", which was replaced by "Cheers" (although FOL still aired), then "Frasier"

Next year -- they have NOTHING, besides "Will & Grace" (not my cup of tea, or coffee, or whatever) and "Scrubs" (which I do enjoy)

ABC was doing pretty good too.
Lots of favorite there.

Not quite its "prime", but FOX had some decent shows.

But as for CBS -- "Murphy Brown" is the only that interests me.
CBS kind of ran dry it the sitcom realm during the 80s/90s.
Which is weird -- because they were a powerhouse in the first 30 years of TV.

Full House (Season 5)
The Wonder Years (Season 5)

Anything But Love (Season 1)
Home Improvement (Season 1)
Step by Step (Season 1)

CBS:
Designing Women (Season 6)
Murphy Brown (Season 4)
Major Dad (Season 3)
Evening Shade (Season 2)

FOX:
Married ... With Children (Season 6)
The Simpsons (Season 3)
Get a Life (Season 2)
Parker Lewis Can't Lose (Season 2)
True Colors (Season 2)
Herman's Head (Season 1)
Roc (Season 1)

NBC:
Cheers (Season 10)
Night Court (Season 9)
The Cosby Show (Season 8)
The Golden Girls (Season 7)
A Different World (Season 5)
Dear John (Season 4)
Empty Nest (Season 4)
Wings (Season 3)
Seinfeld (Season 3)
Fresh Prince of Bel Air (Season 2)
Blossom (Season 2)
Nurses (Season 1)
The Torkelsons (Season 1)

NBC is still # 1 to me at this point. Followed by ABC, FOX and CBS, which didn't have any additions.

I never watched CBS back then. Although now looking back I think NBC had the best shows. However, at the time, I watched ABC more. I also used to watch all five shows on FOX. Most of them, however were short-lived.

I forgot to list syndicated shows, but I'll just stick with the networks, since I have the old schedules for them. (Thanks to that TV book I own.)

Hogan Family is the only one that interests me here.

The first two are good. Parker Lewis was OK.

Like ABC, most are good here. I'm not big on Wings, Seinfeld, and Fresh Prince here. Everything else is decent.

I'd have to give the edge to ABC though over NBC.

Designing Women (Season 7)
Murphy Brown (Season 5)
Major Dad (Season 4)
Evening Shade (Season 3)
Bob (Season 1)
Hearts Afire (Season 1)
Love & War (Season 1)

FOX:
Married ... With Children (Season 7)
The Simpsons (Season 4)
Parker Lewis Can't Lose (Season 3)

NBC:

Empty Nest (Season 5)
Wings (Season 4)
Seinfeld (Season 4)
Fresh Prince of Bel Air (Season 3)
Blossom (Season 3)
Nurses (Season 2)
Mad About You (Season 1)

John Ritter returned to sitcoms this season with "Hearts Afire." Markie Post, who finished "Night Court" last season seemed to bounce back fast, seeing as she was also in "Hearts Afire."

NBC is still my pick for the best sitcoms this season. Followed by FOX, ABC and CBS.

For me, NBC is still the champ. However, I do like all the ABC shows. It was great that CBS finally added some new sitcoms, however, I don't care for any of them.
