Thumbs up The Sopranos Week 9

I loved it. This episode had a little bit of everything. Meadow's boyfriend working at the construction site was interesting to say the least. It's about time they gave Meadow a storyline. I couldn't believe what her boyfriend witnessed, and I'm wondering what fatty had in store for him at Yankee Stadium.

Great scene with Tony and Carmela in the restaurant. Nobody will take her divorce case. Now there's a surprise.

Christopher ranting to Adrianna about Tony B , while eating his frozen Snickers was funny. There's trouble brewing between those two.

Tony's therapist sessions were quite revealing....his passing out on the golf course....lying to Johnny Sac's face at the funeral....the guy getting beat up at the construction site....good show.

I wish they could turn out shows this good every week.

Although I enjoyed the show. I couldn't help but be disturbed by the whole anti-black references in this show. Everything was a black guy did it, Tony got jumped by some black guys, and the racial slurs in Italian. Are black people the only people that are beating people up? Give me a break.

I noticed that too Jrnygrl. The episode itself is titled, "Unidentified Black Males".

Perhaps the title is telling in itself. Tony confided to Dr. Melfi that he didn't participate in the heist in 1986 that sent Tony B. to prison because of an anxiety attack. To save face with the crew, he lied and said he was attacked by black guys....only he didn't put it as nicely.

There have been crime stories over the years where alleged victims falsely claimed that they were attacked by 'black males'. It happened here in Boston....a famous case in 1989 where a guy, Charles Stuart, murdered his pregnant wife Carol in their car on the way back from Lamaze class. Eight months pregnant, and the creep put a bullet in her head. At first, police believed his story that they were attacked by a 'black guy' at a red light. A police sketch was shown all over the news. A black man was brought in for questioning and held. Eventually, the cops closed in on the husband who jumped off the Mystic River Bridge (as in Mystic River, the movie), killing himself. The racial unrest this caused in Boston was terrible.

There was the story of Diane Downs, who shot and killed her children in a car.....blamed it on the bushy haired 'black male'. Her story was made into a book, Small Sacrifices, then a movie of the same name starring Farrah Fawcett.

The list goes on. My thinking is that this was actually in defense of wrongly accused 'Unidentified Black Males'. I can't see David Chase just turning into a raging racist. I hope I'm right anyway.

Oh I agree with what your saying its just, I don't know, maybe I am so wanting everyone to live in peace and harmony. I guess I'm a little like Meadow's boyfriend, seeing the world through rose colored glasses.

I was shocked with the whole Vito and the security guard scene. That could make for an interesting storyline. I really do think Carmella will wind up back with Tony for no other reason but having no choices. Jonny Sack is great, you really believe he's a mob boss. Tony B. is gonna get whacked eventually. I agree with you Janice, it is nice to finally see Meadow get an expanded role this season.

That episode was great! The scene with Vito and that security guard floored me. Could be why I didn't notice or remember the racial parts of the show.

Tony and Carmela: I think they'll get back together too. Neither one of them wants this divorce to happen. If they did, Carmela would've pushed Tony away or slapped him in the pool and Tony wouldn't be contaminating every lawyer she goes to.

The episodes are getting better. That one with Carm and A.J's advisor was boring.

Jrnygirl: I was disturbed by it too not to mention that the other show I watch The Sheild had done some of the same thing by blaming the black man for it.

Anyhow, Vito going downtown on the security guard surprise the hell out of me!! I thought it was that girl who works in the office! It's funny in a sad way how Carmela can't seem to get rid of Tony "without" threatening anybody!

I was wondering was Meadow still part of this show!! GEEEZ!

The only thing that bothers me is the show does a lousy job of following up on certain storylines. I would like to see what will happen now that Finn didn't show up to that Yankee game with Vito.
