that if she only made OCCASSIONAL apperances would her battles with George have been more funny and fresh. Aunt Esther was not in every other episode so when she went against Fred it was something to pay attention to. But Florence moved in and her and George went at itall the time and became stale to me. I think she should have been a maid who came in a couple of days a week.

If Florence was like Esther she would have gotten fired if not thrown off the balcony!
Florence's wisecracks about George is what made the show really funny. That's why they made her full time live in maid! Marla his great at delivering wisecracks!! |

I like Florence just fine. I'm glad she returned to The Jeffersons after Checking In failed. The show wouldn't have been the same.

No, because the Florence was a very stong character on The Jeffersons and could hold on to her own, unlike Aunt Eshter who could not on Sanford and Son...

I'm very liberal when it comes to accepting women's looks but wow Aunt Esther was really homely. She looked like a very ugly dude in drag. Offhand she is the only truly frightful looking woman of color that I can think of on a TV series, which made Fred's cuts at her all the more funny. She literally looked like a battle ax. Makes you wonder though what Elizabeth might have looked like.

From what I could see of the picture he had of Elizabeth she had long hair and nice looking. Don't ask me where I saw it or what episode, I don't remember.
