It'll be the latter part of the month, either the 20th or the 27th, I've seen both dates mentionted on a couple of different sites.

This just in from TVshowsondvd.com:

"Soap - The Complete 2nd Season is on-=the-way, scheduled for a July 20th street date. Look for more comedy from TV's most dysfunctional family: Two sisters, Jessica Tate and Mary Campbell, and their families have all sorts of problems including sarcastic butlers, a war hero who's still living in 1940s wartime, and Mary's second husband, who once thought he could make himself invisible and was abducted by aliens.

The price is just $29.95 SRP for this 3-DVD set, which has a running time of 566 minutes. Look for several supplements to make it to this release:

Making-Of Featurette: "The Creators Come Clean"
Bonus Episode: The Season 1 Pilot
Previews of other Columbia-TriStar releases"

http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/newsitem.cfm?NewsID=1477

BTW, does anyone know anything about the Season1 Pilot? I am assuming that this may have been an unaired pilot? Can anyone confirm?

Great news about season 2, but I, too, was wondering about the original pilot. I've never heard of it, but I can only assume it never aired. If anyone knows anything about it, let us know!

I don't think there ever was an unaired pilot for SOAP. Looking at the menu screen it says "Encore Bonus Episode: Season One Pilot." So, it seems it's just episode one. Strange they would have that again, they could have added bloopers or something instead.

Why would they include an episode that was on the first set?
Are you sure it's not an unseen pilot?

Regardless, I'm buying season 2, just as I bought season 1.

I'll try to find out, but just read what it says on the menu screen.

I did a bit of research, and it appears that the original pilot was a one-hour episode that was cut into two later on, so perhaps the "encore" will be the full pilot in its original one-hour form.

As well, according to an interview with Susan Harris done at the Museum of TV and Radio, Cathryn Damon was the third or fourth Mary, and the pilot had been shot with a different actress in the role. When Cathryn was hired, she retaped the Mary scenes, and the new takes were inserted into the already-filmed pilot. So, perhaps the pilot will include the pre-Cathryn Mary.

Apparently there was an early review of the show in Newsweek, quite a while before the premiere. With this review, there was a cast photo that included the actress who initially played Mary in the pilot. Unfortunately, I have no idea where to get this photo...

Wow!! I'm buying this season!!! It's what I like to peg as "the green baby" episode - with the demon baby in this season!!! Those continuing episodes are a childhood memory... these episodes with the baby scared me when Iwas younger!!! Now I get to own them on DVD!! Jippi!!! I'm sooo exicted!!!!!!!!!!

"Soap" is a show I have watched on-and-off growing up. I've seen almost all the episodes sporadically. Nonetheless, this is THE season I've been waiting for!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
