I think it was Paramount Studio 25 or something in L.A. Same place they film Frasier.

In some of the first season episodes, they don't say "Cheers is filmed before a live studio audience". I assume that it wasn't and that an actual laugh track was used. Anyone know for sure? Also, anyone notice how Coach never, in his three seasons, said those lines before the show?

i always assumed it was (filmed in front of a live studio audience), they just didnt say it until later in the 1st season.
several ppl never said the disclaimer...coach, rebecca, frasier, lilith. sam, carla, cliff and norm did, then as he joined the show, so did woody. i think that's right...someone tell me if its not |

I could have sworn that Frasier said it a few times, but I could be wrong.
The main reason I thought that some of the episodes were filmed in front of an audience and others weren't during the first season was because it seemed as though it jumped around a bit. They'd say it in one or two episodes, then wouldn't in one, then would again. It only happened a few times but it just made me wonder. |

it was ALWAYS filmed in front of an audience.
Every single episode, and ALMOST every scene. |

not every scene was filmed infront of an audience;
for example, remember the episode from season 5 "The Proposal" , where sam and diane were on a boat, this was actually filmed in the paramount studios parking lot filled with water from paramounts water tower. apparently they had to heat all the water up for filming as shelley long kept complaining that it was too cold when she gets thrown in the water by Sam. just a little bit of trivia for you

i said almost every scene was filmed in front of an audience.
other scenes that werent filmed in front of an audience.... The episode with Kevin McHale where they go trying to count the floorboards. Either Rebound Part 1 or 2 where Diane has the flashback of beating up the old lady at the insane asylum. "Little Sister Don't 'Cha" The film Coach shows of visiting Carla at the hospital |

And even though in front of an audience, a laugh track was used occassionally. I have a behind the scenes thingy where Woody does a joke, to small chuckles. Yet in the actual ep laughter just bursts on the soundtrack.

Stage 25 at Paramount was home to The Lucy Show from 1962-1968, Bosom Buddies from 1980-1982, Cheers 1982-1993, Frasier 1993-2004, and mostly Nickelodeon sitcoms since then.
