Default Elton John -- A crybaby loser?

http://www.cnn.com/2004/SHOWBIZ/Musi...eut/index.html

What a stupid, ridiculous thing to make a big deal out of. He should find a new hobby.

Man. I wonder what Old Elton John would think of this. You know Old Elton John. He's the guy who wrote "Madman Across The Water," not the guy who sang "Can You Feel The Love Tonight?".

Old Elton John resurfaced briefly a few years ago and came out with the album Songs From The West Coast.

I don't normally like to get into this kind of thing, because when it comes to race everyone thinks that people who are the minority in this country use it as a crutch or an excuse. Let me make it clear, I personally do not watch shows like American Idol, because of this very thing. But if you stop and think about it from what I understand the three best singers in the show, have constantly been put in what is called the bottom three, and they happen to be African-Americans. What else is it to think. I wish everyone would read a book called "Black Like Me." Its about a man who went through an experiement to find out what it would be like to be black in America. I guess the author wanted to walk a mile in someone else's shoes to really experience what it is like through the other persons point of view. Until someone can experience racism, you can never know how much it still exists in America. I have a lot of friends that are white Europeans, and they see a lot of racism when they come to this country, and are amazed.

There are people who are still upset because Reuben won and Clay didn't, but weren't upset that Kelly won and Tamara didn't, I wonder why.

Again this is JMO, just like it is Elton John's opinion, but I happen to think he is right.

I don't necessarily think it's racism as much as I think it's a backlash to "soul singers". Over the past few years, media outlets and radio have been hyping how someone like Beyonce Knowles is "such a great singer", and the way her and Christina Aguilera oversing at every awards show and talk show appearence is starting to get a little annoying. I think whenever you have too much of anything, it begins to backlash, and I think people are just beginning to get tired of someone who when singing the word "kiss" in a song, performs it as "kiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii-iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii-iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii-eeeeeee-eeeeeeee-eeeeeee-iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii-iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii-isssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss-ssssssssssssssssss-sssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss". Some of today's singers are way overdoing it. There are many great singers out there who don't do the annoying acrobatic things with their voices

If you want to hear melisma done right, listen to it in an angry rock song!

As for Elton charging racism, well, think about it - I mean, how did Clay Aiken become a bigger star than Rueben Studdard for coming in second, anyway?

Clay's sold more albums, but technically radio has embraced Ruben better, go figure
