Angry Britney Spears mimes at UK tour

Britney Mimes at Wembley Gig

Britney at Wembley

Pop princess Britney Spears has shocked fans by miming as she kicked off her UK tour.

Britney, 22, looked sensational in a skin-tight PVC catsuit as she kicked off her tour at Wembley Arena.

However, the 12,000-strong crowd, who had paid at least £30 each for tickets, were startled when Britney started lip-synching to a backing track.

"If I wanted to see somebody mime to music, I would have gone to Top Of The Pops. I've saved up to see Britney - and I'm extremely disappointed," one angry fan was quoted as saying.

Britney, who had a No 1 with Hit Me Baby One More Time, began her stage show with a dazzling display of fireworks and then launched into her most-recent hit, Toxic.

She was dressed to kill in a figure-hugging suit that showed off her curves to the maximum advantage.

Well we all knew she did it anyway but I feel so bad for any of her dedicated fans or anyone who scrimped and saved for tickets and felt let down.

I know it's really hard to sing and dance at the same time but Britney could at least try and make the effort. Every time I read about her antics I hate her more and more and the only reason I own her albums is my sick fetish for pop (I also own CDs by Tiffany, Christina, and Madonna if that's any indication on my music tastes). Britney's a great performer, but can't she stop with the lip synching already? I won't be able to have any respect for her even as a performer while she carries on doing that.

The only surprising thing about that is the fact that they didn't know she did it. It's been well-known for quite some time now.

I prefer a street mime to Britney Spears. For one thing, street mime is at least quiet. And some of the female mimes I've seen on the street are a lot better looking than Britney!

I still remember at the 1999 Video Music Awards when host Chris Rock was introducing a Britney Spears/N 'Sync joint performace. He asked the audience, "are you ready for some lip-synching?"

Classic!

Milli Vanilli did the same thing over ten years ago and you never heard from them again. Spears gets away with it cause she dances and wears skimpy outfits. Face it, Britney was never about the music.

Well, there is a difference between Milli Vanilli and Britney Spears. Britney lip-synchs to her own voice (her very studio tweaked voice.) The guys of Milli Vanilli were pretending to be using their voice when it was other people's all along.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Now, about the concert: didn't the folks in England learn long ago that Britney doesn't sing live?! In America it's common knowledge, and a common joke. For 1.) yes, it's hard to dance and sing at the same time, but more importantly, 2.) her singing voice live is absolute rubbish!
that's true.
Not defending Britney (can't stand her), but the difference was that the 2 guys in Milli Vanilli didn't even sing on the albums, the songs you heard on the radio, Rob and Fab had no participation in, whereas Britney did sing the songs in the first place, she just doesn't bother singing them live (which I think is stupid). IMO, if you expect fans to pay upwards of $75 to see you, you should deliver more than basically having them pay $75 to listen to your cd while watching you dance
