Guys,
I remember that I used to get TV Guide and they never changed the episode description for 'Beaver's Report Card." It said: "Beaver (Jerry Mathers) uses a pen to doctor his sick report card." This was of course untrue. It was Eddie and Lumpy who changed Beaver's arithmetic grade from a D- to a B+. Jack |

I hate how in that episode June and Ward didn't have any trust in Beaver. And even though the grade WAS changed, how did they know it was Beaver?! SGNJKsfdb gdanhtik!!!!

I am not so hard on Ward and June about not trusting Beaver. It's just hard to see what else they could think. No reason to know that Eddie and Lumpy had been there when Gilbert brought the report card. And they had been putting the pressure on Beaver to bring up his math grade.
If anyone in the Cleaver family was a bit irresponsible, I think it was Wally. He was upstairs changing clothes when Gilbert brought the card, knowing Eddie and Lumpy had taken it. And later Beaver disclosed to him that he had made failing grades on his math tests, but still got a B+, and he couldn't figure it out. Wally should have suspected "Creeps, Inc." right then, and took a good look at the marking. I would have. I really doubt if today a school or teacher would give one student's report card to another student who lives closeby, but I took a report card for another guy in my class (4th grade, I think) around 1969. |
