I loved the Mad About You series finale. It was cute how they had them go in the future and then in the end showed video clips of them now. That was nice closure. It made you feel like you knew what was going to happen after this last show and you weren't left hanging with wondering what things would be like.

Series Finales
Boy Meets World (2000)
Perfect Strangers (1993)
Wings (1997)
NewsRadio (1999)

Season Finales
Boy Meets World (Season Five Finale/1998) - Cory, Shawn and Topanga graduate high school. Eric tries to convince Mr. Feeny not to retire.

Wings (Season Six Finale/1995) - Joe and Helen get married. This is also Lowell's finale regular episode. He returns three episodes later coming back from his vacation, only to leave again to join the witness protection program.

Friends (All Season Finales) - I'm not a big Friends fan, but I'll give them credit. They always keep the audience in suspense all Summer long. Cheers did the same thing for a few seasons.

Best Series Finale, definitely "The Mary Tyler Moore Show." I don't know how anybody could watch that and not at least have a lump in their throat.

Best SEASON Finale: I have to say the 3rd season finale of "The Nanny," "Pup in Paris." That last scene on the plane really makes you want to see what's going to happen in season 4 (Though I doubt anyone was prepared for what ended up happening!).

season finales:

Friends season 1, 4 and 7 (1995, 1998 and 2001). Rachel is waiting for Ross to come back so she can tell him she loves him, "I take thee Rachel", and Rachel discovers she's preggers.

Buffy season 2 (1998). Very downbeat, depressing episode, Buffy kills Angel to save the world. Also we discover that Willow is a powerful witch as well.

Facts Of Life season 8 (1987). In many ways should've been the series finale. Jo and Blair graduate college, and the end of the season culminates with Jo leaving and you could hear her motorcycle go off in the distance. Season 8 was one of the best seasons, and this would've made a better series finale than the one we got the next year.

SERIES FINALES:
haven't really seen a great flawless one yet

Seasons

Sienfeld: 'The Invitations' the season 7 ender with George accidentally Killing his fiance Susan.

Married With Children: The season 6 3 part ender when the bundys go to England.

Finales

Seinfeld's finale was my favorite because it was a good way to end the show for such mean characters

Wings, Cheers, MASH, Mad About You also had finales I liked.

"All in the Family: The Stivics Move West". Had this flawless episode been the series finale (as Norman Lear originally intended), it would have been, for me, the best series finale ever, a perfect mix of laughter and tears.

I really enjoyed the Barney Miler finale; and their 3rd season was the best of that show...

Sister Sister had a good last episode that made sense in terms of what the show was about. I never saw Newhart's but it sounded good. Barney Miller's was decent as were Cheers, Mad About You and China Beach.

What makes the difference is if the show decides to end on its own rather than if the network axes it. Axed shows either have no real conclusion or they usually rush together endings just to tie up loose ends and often the rushed quality shows up onscreen.

I have some thoughts. One of my favorite series finale was "Full House" where Michelle has anemsia in which she tries to recover her life. The "Family Matters" finale I love is where Steve Urkel got lost in space . And finally, "The Cosby Show" finale is where Cliff and Clair danced their way out of the studio. These are all of my favorite series finales.

Boy Meets World had a great series finale. Great flashbacks that left you in tears and Mr. Feeny's line at the very end "I love you all, class dismissed" that was a heartbreaker!
