ok this show is the worst black show ever. the reason why this show didnt win an emmy is because they are not funny. nothing they do is funny. their jokes are lame. the point of the show iis lame. please this show should've been cancelled after the first episode. classic black shows like martiun did win emmy's back in 1992 and 1993. living single also won back 1993. and other classic black shows of the 80s and 70s won emmy's.

What is Martiun? Learn how to spell. His show was Martin. U are the one that's lame. Steve's show wasn't wack & it wasn't the worst black show ever. I can think of some other black shows that were worst like Cedric's variety show that Fox cancelled.

You call Martin and Living Single "classic"? Those are decent shows, but you haven't seen enough TV to even give an opinion. Sanford and Son; Good Times; The Jeffersons; The Cosby Show; these are classics that earned that label. Steve Harvey isn't the best show but it is nowhere near the worst and you don't have a clue as to what "classic" is. |

There y'all go startin stuff again. These posts are funnier than the shows. What was the worst black show? None of the above. Depends on your tastes I guess. Steve Harvey's Big Time might be the all time worst one. As for sitcoms maybe either Sanford Arms or Baby I'm Back With Demond Wilson as the deadbeat dad who comes back into wife Denise Nicholas' life just as she's about to marry the guy who played Balderman Davis on Good Times. There may be worse ones than this though. Someone should post a query on the general questions board. I'm not going to because I might get a lot of anti-black posts saying that ALL the black shows sucked. By the way, Martin and Living Single weren't ever nominated for emmys. The emmy people looked down their noses at these shows. NAACP Image Awards may not have been to keen on Martin either. |

I agree with you guys. "The Steve Harvey show" is not really a classic or groundbreaking, but is not the worst show either.
It is what it is? A show that was funny and people liked. And not every sitcom has to be a classic to be good. ps: if any Steve Harvey sitcom was groundbreaking, it might be "Me and the Boys". I don't recall any other sitcom about a single black dad, that at the sametime showed black people in a possitive light. I hope one year TV Land airs episodes of "Me and the Boys" as part of black history month celebration. |

you know why this the worst black show ever? first of all im a 39 year old white American and my dad was in the kkk of white power. when i saw the black shows in the 70s, me and father were just watching them. we were great classics like sanford and son, whats happening, good times, 227, my dad left the kk because he once respected black comedy, we were laughing like there was no tomorrow. that how great classic black comedy was in 70s to 1994. ok the last show that me and dad couldnt get enough was martin and living single. Martin is amazing, he wont stop till he makes you laugh your brains out. living single is good comedy but those two black shows were the last of all black shows. ok how about this RAP in the 80s was also amazing and awsome to listen to, kool moe dee, many more, it would take years to complete complete great old school rappers. but RAP has died when martin came off the air in 1997. biggy died, tupac died a year later. ok now you got black sitcoms (DEAD 1997)
BLACK RAP(DEAD 1997) you people have nothing else to show us white americans. Steve harvey is the first black show ever to begin being the worst black show ever. and now you garbage black shows thge hugleys, jaimie foxx, big house, girlfriends and the list of new black shows goes on ever since 1997. now all because of this my father is back on the kkk and im well still partially racist because of new black shows starting with steve harvey stupid show. you get my drift you turds. |

Well the shows may not be as good as those old ones for a number of reasons, but calling people turds is only going to alienate you from the others on the boards, Benny Hill. Blacks, whites and most others would consider that uninformed language, y'know what I'm saying? When you post up other stuff even if it's intelligent, we're going to be thinking there's that racist guy talking. You know?

Benny Hill nobody cares about your opinion. U didn't have to tell us your father is a KKK member cause we don't care. How is he gonna be a KKK member but he liked the old black tv shows from the 70's & 80's? If he's a racist, he's always gonna be a racist. People can change though so maybe he isn't a racist anymore. If u think Steve Harvey's show is garbage, how do u think blacks feel about those garbage white tv shows that be gettin their reruns showed? I don't like a lot of white comedy sitcoms cause i can't relate to it. I think NBC, ABC, CBS have too many garbage white comedy sitcoms on right now but i don't complain about it. I just don't watch those shows.

I didn't know Demond Wilson had a show with Denise Nicholas. I also didn't know Redd Foxx had a show called Sanford Arms. Is that the show where he was living with that fat white dude who took Lamont's place?

Sanford Arms was the spinoff from Sanford and Son that tried to keep it going without either Fred or Lamont. It ran for a month in the fall of 1977. Sanford was the show with Fred and the heavyset white guy, Cal. It was OK from what little I remember of it.
Baby I'm Back was the show Demond Wilson left S&S to go into. He wasn't a good leading man (he struck me as having a severe drug dependency) and Ms Nicholas who is a decent actress was really out of her element in this show about a deadbeat dad. A young Kim Fields was their daughter and Helen Martin from 227 was Denise's mother who hated Demond's character. There probably is a black sitcom that was worse than these but this is the worst one that I can think of off the top of my head. I vaguely remember some show about convicts called On the Rocks or something like that. That sounded pretty stupid. I'll have to look it up on imdb or tvtome. |

you are right , white showsbhave also been garbage since 1997 along with garbage black shows. i think will and smelly grace is top 10 worst shows of all time. but both black and white comedies have been great back in the old days. ok black shows began in the late 60s. ever since then black and white shows were equal and laughter and also they were special. Sitcoms began in the mid 40s. white sitcoms were perfect then and so hilarious you jus had to die laugh. black shows only for black audiences back in the 50s began with amos n andy which was hilarious. julia, the first black show starting in 1969 was also very good. white viewers and black viewers both loved watching black sitcoms like jeffersons, good time, sanford and son, i mean the list goes on in the 70s. everysinge black and white show was good good in the 70s and 80s to 1994. you dont have anymore great shows. not only that that they put reruns of new black shows and new white shows which frustrates me and i dont like that. they have millions of great classics from the 40s to 1994 to show on channels like TBS mostly, nick at night, tnt, channel usa and many other useless channels yet they waste their time putting garbage new shows to irritate everyone.
thank you |

Political correctness and economics have a lot to do with Tv changing so much. Now the networks won't air anything that any group might consider offensive of their race, sexuality or socioethnic group. You could never do All in the Family today. So many people are so pissed off and feel disenfranchised and disrespected that they have gravitated towards others who are equally pissed off and said that they will not put up with anyone urinating on them ever again. So popular entertainment can only fall back on sex humor and materialistic characters and recycling the same sort of safe inoffensive material that is stale.
Money plays a big part too. The networks want us to buy all the stuff they advertise in the commercials and there are so many channels now that people can switch off that they really don't want to offend anyone. Also they cater more to the people who spend the most money on the products which are people who live in the big cities. I'd like to know how that Neilsen ratings thing works. I've never met anyone who has one of those boxes in their home, or whatever system they use to determine which show is watched by which people. It could be very arbitrary. |
