Default ur thoughts on Frasier leaving son behind in season 1

How do you all feel about Frasier having left his son behind and moving across the country?

I agree with Tim, for the show's purposes, it was best that Frederick was not a regular.

I mean just in general, how everyone views someone who chooses to move away from their child. Like if Frasier was your dad...

I think if Frederick had to live with one of his parents -- its best that its his mother.
I really cant judge people who leave there kids -- but even though he doesnt live with him -- Frasier's a perfect father.

Lilith is a perfectly capable caregiver and guardian for Freddy. Also, Frasier and Freddy's relationship has always been portrayed as a normal and caring one. Both these facts show that Frasier has remained a responsible father figure for Freddy, so I don't feel he did anything wrong in moving across the country.

Slightly off-topic, but I think it's definitely a good thing that Freddy is not a cast member on Frasier. Shows which have a child in the cast often revolve too much around that cast member, and for Frasier, it would be inappropriate. Also, too many child-centric episodes = trite and predictible.

Not to mention, I hate the actor who plays Freddy.

I've never seen Frederick and have wondered if they ever show him since I was never a fan of Cheers. However, I think the show is better off without him. It's nice that he's mentioned but I like the show better without kids. I don't think it should be held against Frasier for leaving his son and moving to Seattle. Speaking as someone who has very little knowledge of Frasier before he began working at KACL, I would guess that Frederick was already settled in school in Boston and to uproot him like that would be traumatizing. So Frasier and Lillith probably thought it was best to keep him there in a familar environment.
From what I've seen and how Frasier talks about his son, they seem to have a loving relationship.
