Dixie Carter was perfect for Designing Women; I like Mary Ann Mobley better.

But Dixie's OK

Maggie was cool, a little bossy, but over all a cool person. I'd have to say Dixie was better in Designing Women, but she played seven seasons there. She was on Diff'rent Strokes for about 29 episodes. Julia Duffy still takes home the prize from Designing Women. Even though her run was short, she still played to part of her annoying character very well! Hey, she played Stephanie well in Newhart, who can top that? But, I think Maggie was a good person to add to the Drummond family.

JULIA: Please, if you really want to feel like crying try being one of those women who hold down a job, raise a family on the side, watch their legal rights erode year after year, and are still being told that women's liberation went to far. That ought to make you feel like crying. Hhhoooo!

Julia and Carlene are talking about a poll on the Flinstones sexuality that was in the newspaper...
ALLISON: I can't believe you two are talking about cartoon character's sexuality. They're two dementinal.
CARLENE: Well gee, Allison. So are you.

i don't think dixie carter should have never came on the show. she just did not ever fit in with the cast. neither did sam, or the next maggie. the writers should have never had drummond get married.
i am not putting down dixie or anything.
she was just not right for diff'rent strokes.

Well, it's not Dixie's fault. I love her! I think she fit in with them very well, but when she left to do Designing Women, the next one wasn't as good. Sam was okay. I don't think Arnold was the right character for the "big brother type" either. I think Kimberly did well with all the characters, but she was in Paris so that doesn't say anything! And if they had to have Drummond get married, it should have been in an earlier season!
