For me, the vacuum cleaner scared me. Whenever my mother would vacuum I'd run into another room. I think it was the noise that scared me.
Fire..Everytime my father started a fire in the fireplace..I used to run outside and up the hill that was in our back yard...Also I was always worried that my house was going to burn down...I think it all started when an older sister used to pick me up and threaten to throw me in the fireplace when my parnets were not around...

Back in the Stone Age when I was a child(the 50's) I was afraid of spiders, deep water, Of getting a spanking, and being away from my Mommy (or home) That's all I can remember.

Tornados, even though we don't really get them in NY. I would freak out so bad whenever there was a storm, though. Now, I love it when it storms.

I was also afraid of getting slivers and my mom coming after me to get it out with the tweezers. That was hell.

And, of course, being alone...and being in the dark. I'm still scared of those.

The 'Charlie Chaplin' impersonator on Sesame Street. Those aliens from outer space that said 'Yep yep yep....' on Sesame Street. Oh God, those scared the crap out of me.

Water, fire, 'It' clown (though by that time I was a tween).

Being kidnapped.

Monkey bars/heights. I was petrified of the monkey bars in school.. Id never dare to climb them.

lol i was like that with "are you afraid of the dark?" about 5 years ago, it freaked me out so much but i would keep tuning in to watch it every day. there was this one episode about a guy that watches some vampire movie, and when the movie was supposed to end the vampire walked out of the screen. i was so scared that night i stayed up until my eyes just closed themselves..

I was scared of the car wash. It was one of those things where you drive through them and the brushes clean the windows and exteriors of your vehicle. I would scream and hide when we went through one of those.

I was also scared of the principal at my old elementary school from 1992-1994. First impressions do count and this is no exception, as the first time I was sent to his office he YELLED at me. And I was only 6 years old! After that I was scared to go to school. It wasn't the last time he yelled at me. Kids would harass me and I'd get in trouble for it and he would yell at me. There was one time where I was having trouble following directions on the phone to my mother explaining my case after I was sent to the principal's office for saying "bad words" (they were not even four letter words, much less swear words) and he got so frustrated he yanked the phone right out of my hand and gave me a mean and dirty look. I will never forget that face. He sent me home that day and I didn't get to class. He would send me home often even for trivial things like that probably because he and my teachers didn't know how to handle a kid with a learning disability. Keep in mind that I was in first and second grade and I was being treated like a high school student. When I learned he would work at a newly established elementary school nearby, I felt nothing but relief.

Another fear of mine was clowns. I was scared to go to Circus Circus because I thought there would be nothing but clowns. Good thing I didn't see this one at such a tender age.
