Disappearing Characters - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

Have you ever noticed on many TV shows that there are characters in season 1, then they disappear into oblivion forever.
Here are some examples:
Minkus (Boy Meets World)
Lana Wagner (Night Court)
Sheila Gardner (Night Court)
Liz Williams (Night Court)
Ms. Bliss (Saved By The Bell)
Mikey (Saved By The Bell)
Nicolle (Saved By The Bell)
Ms. Paledrino (Saved By The Bell)
Mylo (Saved By The Bell)
Sylvia (Roseanne)
Pete (Roseanne)
other 2 factory ladies (Roseanne)
Rodney (Family Matters)
Penny (Family Matters)
Mr. Bradley (The Facts Of Life)
Ms. Mahoney (The Facts Of Life)
gay chef (Golden Girls)
Sonya (Mamas Family)
Buzz (Mamas Family)
Brendon (Step By Step)
Penny (Step By Step)
Carol's Mom (Step By Step)
Sandy Harling (Melrose Place)
Rhonda (Melrose Place)
*If there are any I forgotten, please name them. I dont know why shows do this, but I dont really like it because we dont get to know these characters well.

The characters from Saved by the Bell disappeared because it was originally Good Morning, Miss Bliss and they decided to remake the show and call it Saved by the Bell (moving it from Disney to NBC) and make some cast changes...along with a few other things like relocate (instead of Indiana, they moved it to California), Zack's father was Peter instead of Derrick, his parents were divorced, and he had a little sister, etc.

In other words, Saved by the Bell has many differences.

plus:

B. J. Thomas was a major part of Growing Pains IMHO because of his rendition of the theme song!!! I lost interest after they switched singers during the latter part.

I haven't seen the 2nd season of "The Office" but from what I know, Donna and a few other characters from the 1st season (Ricky too, I believe) aren't in there but I'm not sure if they explain them leaving or not.

Okay please explain Jess and Kelly's disappearance from SBTB, when that girl in the leather jacket appeared.

They just quit the show...didn't like doing it no more.

Ohhh, the Tori episodes. Well, in the middle of the final season, Elizabeth Berkley and Tiffani-Amber Thiessen decided to quit the show. But before they left, they went ahead and filmed the graduation episode (and a couple others too, I think) and then brought in Leanna Creel as Tori for the episodes that would air in between. However, there was no explanation (on the show itself) as to the whereabouts of Jessie and Kelly. So in the SBTB universe, the viewers' assumption is just that Jessie and Kelly were still around, but just not seen on camera or mentioned.

For any SBTB fans that know more, please feel free to correct me on anything
