Default "Give Me A Ring Sometime" vs. "Home Is The Sailor"

Which episode is better??
The original "birth" of the series....

or the "rebirth" that came with the introdruction of Rebecca in Season 6??

Although I like both episodes....
and even though Diane is the better character, IMO....

"Home Is The Sailor" is the superior episode.
Everything about it clicked.
And you can't help but laugh when the gang pops out and ask for a Screaming Viking.

One of the best episodes of the series, IMO.
And a great way to introduce the series worst character -- Rebecca.
(even still -- Id rather watch a show all about "Rebecca" than a lot of stuff on TV)

they're both good episodes, and i love the screaming viking thing but i have to say "Give me a Ring Sometime" it was (imo) a perfect pilot episode and was much better than "Home is the Sailor"

It is kind of an unfair comparison considering the pilot the actors just got into their roles and weren't fully developed. The Screaming Viking bit is hands down hysterical so my vote goes to Home is the Sailor.

This is a tough one... but I actually think Home is the Sailor overall is a better episode then Give Me a Ring Sometime. Give Me a Ring Sometime is still an awesome episode for a pilot, though.

Give Me A Ring Sometime. I like Diane. That's my biggest reason.

I'm not a fan of the Rebecca years. She was okay, but I'm a big Sam and Diane fan, so my favorite years are the first five seasons.

I also didn't like it when Sam didn't own Cheers. I liked him as the owner, not groveling to one boss or another. I was glad when he got the bar back.

I love both episodes, and I love both Rebecca and Diane, but I have to go with Give Me A Ring Sometime. It was such a good episode, and one of the best pilots for any tv series I've ever seen.

Give Me A Ring Sometime...I loved the Diane seasons!!! She was so darn funny with her MISS KNOW-IT-ALLness! And like Janice said, she's the only reason I watched. I, too, am not a fan of Rebeccas.

I like both but without a doubt I like "Home is the Sailor" more. It was just an overall funnier episodes and was the beggining of the Rebecca years, my favorite years of Cheers.

DEFINITELY, without a doubt, my favorite is give me a ring sometime. you really have to admire the fact that the characters you met on that first episode where the same ones you loved to watch in the rest of the seasons. what i mean is, it's obvious that the characters were finely crafted right from the start - that's a sign of exceptional writing, not just acting. anywho, I LOVE THE DIANE YEARS - Diane Chambers is one of the best characters ever to grace our TV screens, and Shelley Long is largely responsible for that.
